This afternoon, between 4pm and 6pm, Formby came together for the most beautiful Lantern Parade, and despite the rain, it truly was magical.
Families gathered from 3:45pm at Holy Trinity Church on Rosemary Lane, where children proudly carried their illuminated lanterns as the parade set off in small groups. The gentle glow of the lanterns against the dark, rainy evening made the walk feel incredibly special.
The parade made its way into the village to join the Formby Nativity, where the community gathered around the Christmas tree to sing carols together. The rain didn’t dampen the atmosphere — if anything, it added to the cosy, festive feel of the moment.
Afterwards, everyone returned to Holy Trinity Church for hot drinks and snacks, rounding off a lovely community event full of warmth, togetherness, and Christmas spirit.
Thank you to everyone involved for creating such a wonderful and memorable afternoon for Formby.
