It was cup match weekend for many FJSC Representative Teams. Franks Report here

It was cup match weekend for many of Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams but for the first time this season some matches were cancelled.  This was due to the weather and Storm Ashley but FJSC’s Inter Club Section and half the scheduled Representative team matches went ahead as planned.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 10 Blacks played the new FJSC Under 10 Gold team on Sunday.  It was the first time this season that two FJSC’s were paired against each other which was made even more exciting as it was a cup match.

FJSC Under 10 Black.

The Blacks started well with an early goal from Jack Hansen with the assist from Asher Fields, before Asher Fields went on to score his first goal of the game from a lovely cross from Ethan Catleugh. The next goal came from an excellent tackle in the middle of the park from Olly Stinson who went on to blast it in the top corner. The Gold team fought back and managed to get a goal before a beautiful assist from Idris Jones to give Jack Hansen hissecond goal of the day.

The second half began quietly for both teams before the Gold team scored a lovely goal. It wasn’t long before the Blacks were back on top again with a fantastic goal kick from Max Byford which gave Asher Fields the opportunity to score his second of the game. The final goal of the game came from Ashley Jones who had worked hard up front to get a goal in the game. Isaac Melton had another great game getting stuck in all over the field and was unlucky to not score a goal.

The FJSC Under 10 Blacks won the cup game 6-2 and are through to the next round following an excellent team performance with some lovely passing and solid defending. Jack Hansen was awarded the MOTM trophy for his fantastic performance.

FJSC Under 10 Gold.

In a thrilling encounter against a formidable FJSC Black side, the team once again demonstrated its fighting spirit and determination. The match began with FJSC Blacks taking an early lead, but the resilience was quickly evident as Mason Davies equalised with a brilliant solo effort, showcasing his silky skills and tenacity. As the first half progressed, FJSC Blacks dominated possession, testing our defence particularly through the centre. However, our backline stood firm, frustrating many of their attempts.

The second half saw a notable shift in our team's dynamics, with the partnership between Skyla Newell and Mason Davies in attack becoming increasingly impressive. Their growing chemistry was evident in their fluid interplay, causing significant problems for the FJSC defence. Skyla Newell, in particular, delivered a standout performance. Not only did she excel in her usual defensive role, but she also demonstrated her ability to surge forward with pace, culminating in a well-deserved goal. Her exceptional all-round display rightfully earned her Player of the Match.

Despite FJSC Blacks quality and periods of dominance, our team's collective effort and adherence to their roles kept the opposition at bay for much of the game. The left flank proved to be a vulnerable area where FJSCBlack found some success, indicating a potential focus for future training sessions. Nonetheless, this spirited performance against a strong FJSC Black side showcased our team's growing resilience, tactical discipline, and burgeoning on-field partnerships, promising exciting developments for future matches.

Congratulations to all the players of the two FJSC teams on a wonderful match.

FJSC Under 13 White had an entertaining and close cup game with Crosby Stuart Youth. Thelads never gave in and fought hard throughout the match. FJSC played a lot of through balls to the strikers causing problems throughout the match for the Crosby Stuart defence.  There were two nice finishes from FranekBanas and a great strike from the corner of the box from Jasper Chignell . At 4-5 down the Whites nearly took the match to penalties by hitting the post and narrowly missing a one on one within the last five minutes of this thrilling cup tie. Man of the Match was LukeGreenbank who had to play in a couple of positions including up front where he was a real menace. Ben Gregory also had a great game in midfield and ran his socks off from start to finish.

FJSC Under 12 Black went into their cup match with Southport Hesketh Blue withconfidence after a very good run of results.  The game started with FJSC asserting themselves in midfield and with constant running and pressing from the strikers FJSC never looked like losing after scoring early goals.  The boys played some excellent football with neat passing and movement added with some great set pieces.   There were eight different FJSC scorers in the 15-1 win.

Scorers: Ellis Coyne(3), Sylvan O’Hara (3) ,Luke Millington(2), Charlie Richardson(2), Finley Scott (2), Isaac Jones(1) , Louis O’Connor (1) and Caden Walker (1).

Championship Division FJSC Under 12 Whites had been given an extremely difficult away cup tie at very strong Churchtown Jaguars. With the Jags second to top in the Under 12 Premier Division it was always going to be a tough ask and so it proved. The boys battled hard in terrible windy conditions, but a strong Jags team just had too much and ran out easy winners. There will be a couple of weeks break now due to half term. FJSC Under 12 Whites have had a promising start to the season with much to look forward to.

FJSC Under 11 Whites were the only FJSC team to play their Hightown Junior League fixture on Saturday due to the weather and waterlogged pitches.  After going two goals down against Kingsway the Whites burst into life with Clayton Connolly, Josh Halpin and Andreos Mingas all going close before Zac Cooper scored with a contender for goal of the season. Controlling a high ball from twentyyards out, he set himself and dispatched it into the top corner of the net to halve the deficit. Minutes later the teams were level when Andreos Mingas equalised.  FJSC could have been ahead at the break with Zac Cooper again going close and Jaiden Crosby hitting the woodwork.

FJSC found it difficult in the second half and couldn’t get going. Despite the best efforts of Edgar Johnson in goal and Quinn McAuley and Isaac Rimmer in defence Kingsway’s pressure was too much to withstand and goals were conceded.

On Sunday FJSC Under 11 Whites turned in their most solid performance of the season so far against Crosby Athletic in another Craven Minor League cup match. After a well fought first few minutes, in which FJSC were thankful to goalkeeper Lucas Guest for some vital saves, FJSC took control. AndreosMingas and Clayton Connolly should both have been on the score sheet, before the former broke the deadlock before the break.

In the second half FJSC assumed control with a solid foundation at the back from Reuben Hunt, Jaiden Crosby and Timmy Richards.

Zac McHugh continued his excellent form assisting Quinn McAuley to make it 2 nil, before Clayton Connolly scored the team’s third goal from the penalty spot.

FJSC played brilliantly in the 3-1 win against strong opposition in an excellent game.

A wet and windy morning did not dampen FJSC Under 9 Blacks’ spirit despite the scoreline against Crosby Stuart Youth.  This was undoubtedly an improved performance by the FJSC boys and clear signs that goals and winning performances are not far away.

All the boys showed a will to work together as a team; battling hard for the ball, getting back to defend, and helping each other whenever they could. All left the field with smiles on their faces and happy to have given their all.

Well done boys! We go again in a couple of weeks’ time.

FJSC Under 7 Blacks started slowly against Southport and Ainsdale White in horrible weather but grew into the game, scoring a fantastic goal with a superb strike from edge of the box by Harry Brown. S.and A.equalised but  soon the Blacks went in front again through a great strike from TheoThomas direct from the free kick.

There were some amazing saves made byAlbee Fairhurst to keep FJSC in front. S. and A. kept on pushing and managed to draw level.

It was back and forth then all the way until the end with S. and A. scoring with a great finish with the last final kick of the game. It was the third loss this season by one goal which goes to show how much the boys are improving and how close they are to winning matches.

It was the seventh Inter Club Saturday of the season with no Saturdays cancelled due to the weather.
