It’s insulting to the man who died in 1407 to have his gravestone obscured by an old wooden bench
Dear Formby Bubble:
As a long time resident of #Formby, I really enjoy seeing some of the historical items relevant to the history of Formby including those around St Lukes church.
I often come through the church yard and look, for example, at the tombstone of Richard Formby in the church entrance and occasionally find the gates open and can look inside.
What I find insulting to the memory of the man who died in 1407, after being arms bearer to Henry VI, is that the gravestone is obscured by the presence of an old wooden bench sitting on top of it - (see photo). Not only does this make it impossible to properly view this important historical object but, the bench seems to be a piece of tired old junk that is an insult to his memory.
Given that the gates of the church entrance are almost always locked, it is difficult to see that this old bench is actually ever sat on, so would it not be a good idea to have it removed?
