It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Jean Avington (née Corson) announce her peaceful passing on 13th July at Marylands Care Home in Formby.
Originally from Ellesmere Port, Jean moved to Formby in the early 1960s with her much-loved late husband, Ted. A dedicated and compassionate professional, Jean devoted her life to caring for others—working as a nurse, midwife, and health visitor within the local community. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on the many families she supported, and she took great joy in reconnecting with her “mums” and “babies” well into her retirement.
A service to celebrate Jean’s life will take place at 10:30am on Thursday, 14th August at Holy Trinity Church, Formby, followed by a committal at Southport Crematorium at 12 noon.
The family warmly invites anyone who knew Jean, or whose lives she touched, to join them in remembering and celebrating her life. A funeral reception will be held from 1:30pm at Formby Cricket Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Macmillan Cancer Support or Claire House Children’s Hospice—two causes close to Jean’s heart.
Forever remembered for her gentle nature, dedication, and enduring kindness. 💗
