If Formby Junior Sports Club had a half term report it would be a very good one! Franks report here

If Formby Junior Sports Club had a half term report it would be a very good one. All the Representative teams are doing well with FJSC Under 13’s Saturday team, the FJSC Under 13’s Sunday team and the FJSC Under 12’s all top of their respective divisions. On the Inter Club front every age group has been well attended each Saturday with new members joining in the coaching and friendly matches each week. All the children are also developing their football skills well and there is a very noticeable improvement in the standard of football being played in all the Inter Club age group matches since the beginning of the season.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 13’s Sunday team hit top form and won 7 nil against Southport Gold. Charlie Garvey, Berat Ulusoy and Charlie Taylor scored two goals each. Archie Ogden was also on the scoresheet with a goal. Man of the match was Charlie Taylor. The Under 13’s have so far scored thirty-three league goals and conceded just two.

The FJSC Under 13 Saturday team had a hard match against Town Green Sparta. Twice Sparta took the lead but FJSC’s Archie Ogden equalised twice for a draw 2-2. The Saturday team have won three out of four matches played so far plus the draw with Town Green.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks with a depleted squad played away at Southport Trinity White and won 6-2. Ethan Richmond led the way with a brace. Also scoring one goal each were captain Patrick Fleming, Josh Kearney, Henry Renton, and Tom Donnelly. The Under 12’s are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season.

FJSC Under 11 Whites were in action in an away fixture with Southport FC. It was a real end to end match from start to finish. The Under 11’s bucked their usual trend of being very tight in the first half and managed to concede early to a fast break. Although Southport scored a couple more goals in the first half, FJSC kept creating chances of theirown and Lucas Lewis scored with a lovely finish after a nice team move. Luck was not on the Whites side as a goal each side of half timewas conceded after unfortunate slips. FJSCrefused to let their heads go down and huge credit to all of the boys for that. Ben Harris who was suffering with a bruised heel still managed a great performance including a fantastic solo run and finish which was only bettered by his celebration. It was a strong performance from the Under 11’s which shows real improvement and the boys need to keep going, keep learning and keep enjoying it!

FJSC Under 10 Whites played against a newly formed Crosby Stuart team. FJSC took an early lead with a brace from Archie Weir. Rowan Jones added to the lead with a superbly taken penalty. Further goals before half time were added by Zac Hooson-Jones and Gregory Houghton. The second half saw FJSC continue to dominate and further penalties were converted in style by Albie Salters and Jacob Davies. A great team move with anassist from man of the match Rowan Jones resulted in a cool finish from Isaac Jones. The game finished with a well-deserved consolation goal for a spirited Crosby Stuart team.

FJSC Under 7 Whites travelled away to play Burscough Dynamo Yellows. FJSC started the game well and after some clever inter passing Oliver Parrish broke away and kept his composure to score the opening goal of the match. Goalkeeper Harry Hughes managed to keep FJSC ahead with some outstanding saves. With quick thinking from Harry Hughesthe ball was passed on to Joshua Gillespie who quickly turned and passed the ball through to Charlie Ormesher. Weaving in and out of the incoming tackles Charlie calmly slipped the ball into the bottom corner for a great goal. Burscough Dynamo struggled to get into the game with Formby adding to the goal tally with Joshua Gillespie scoring the third goal. Burscough Dynamo came back strongly and scored their opening goal of the match. Thisgave Burscough a bit of momentum and soonthey scored two more goals to level the score at 3-3. Just before half time FJSC took the lead with Joshua Gillespie scoring his second of the game.

FJSC started the second half with Charlie Vernon playing well. Charlie Ormesher then scored three quick-fire goals. Dynamo scored again to reduce the deficit before Harry Hughes scored from a goal line scramble. The man of the match award for his amazing defensive display went to Otto Johnson. It was a very good team performance.

INTER CLUB FOOTBALL

Despite it being the first Saturday of half term there was a very good Inter Club attendance.

Last Saturday’s scorers included Oliver Jones, Archie Parrish, Tayo Popoola, Jack Haggart, Campbell Woodcock, Oliver Hall- Gleeson, Ralph Renton, Joby Varey, Lucas Lewis, Noah Bate, Isaac Jones, Ethan Richmond, EthanDonegan and Riley Higgs.

The Year Five/Six match was decided on a penalty shoot-out after the Blues and Yellow teams were locked at 2-2. A combination of nerves by the penalty takers and good saves by the goalkeepers saw the first six penalties missed! Lucas Lewis then stepped up for theseventh penalty to score the winner for the jubilant Blue team.
