Happy 65th Birthday to Formby Junior SC which is a remarkable achievement for a voluntary club

Formby Junior Sports Club reached another milestone last weekend when it celebrated its 65th birthday. This is a remarkable achievement for this voluntary club which started way back at the beginning of January in 1959.
Unfortunately the relentless rainfall over the last month or so once again caused the majority of FJSC’s weekend programme of football to be postponed. Sefton Council quite rightly cancelled all matches and training sessions on theirwaterlogged or very muddy pitches which included Deansgate Lane Playing Fields. For the two hundred and fifty FJSC members this meant no Inter Clubfootball and coaching last Saturday and no home matches for the club’s Representative teams throughout the weekend. As a result only five teams played matches. It is hoped that a dry spell this week and improving weather may give the pitches a chance of recovering in time for next weekend.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 7 Whites played in the Southport and Ainsdale Tournament on Sunday and enjoyed their first experience of round robin competition football. There were six teams taking part and FJSC Whites did well winning three of their five matches including the third and fourth place final which they won on penalties. FJSC would like to thank Southport and Ainsdale for the kind invitation. Next Sunday the FJSC Under 7 boys will be travelling to Ormskirk to play in the Craven Minor League Competition at Edge Hill University. See team photograph above.
The two FJSC Under 6 teams once again braved the very cold conditions to play their matches in the Sefton Development League.
FJSC Under 6 Blacks were in action against Vision FDA. The boys started very slowly and after the first third were 3 nil down. FJSC scored twice in the middle third but without a regular goalkeeper then conceded a few more goals in the final third of the match. Thomas Mitchell who scored a hat trick and once again led by example with a very good overall display, shared the Man of the Match award with Cole Jones who had some really good spells and is greatly improving. The Referee’s man of the match was Ollie Jones who made some fantastic tackles.
NEXT INTER CLUB SESSION
