FRANK ROURKE'S REPORT FROM FORMBY JUNIOR SPORTS CLUB

Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 15 Whites had a magnificent result at the weekend. The Inter Club Section had another very successful Saturday. There were a few Representative matches cancelled due to waterlogged pitches much to the disappointment of the boys but some games went ahead despite some terrible weather conditions.

FJSC Under 15’s travelled to Ormskirk last Saturday morning to play the league leaders Ormskirk Galaxy who had started the season with five league wins from five matches played. The FJSC team knew that they would have to play at their very best if they were to have any chance. This is exactly what they did. From start to finish the Under 15’s produced a non-stop outstanding team performance. In the centre of midfield man of the match Jack Rummens controlled the game breaking down Ormskirk’s play. In defence Samuel Colbourne and Callum Williams were excellent. It was a very good match to watch with chances for both teams. FJSC’s teamwork and great determination deservedly was just enough for the Whites to gain a narrow 3-2 win. The scorers were Marc Whitelaw, Henry Peck and James Hilton.

On Sunday FJSC Under 11 Blacks played Southport FC at a very cold Deansgate Lane. The highlight of the match for the FJSC boys was without doubt Franky Moon’s first ever goal for his team after three years of playing for FJSC. Congratulations to Franky who was also man of the match in a very good team performance. Also on the scoresheet were Dominic Maxwell, Charlie Garvey, Archie Ogden, Callum Gray and Harry McGrath.

FJSC Under 10 Whites were in action against Bootle FC Youth Academy. The Whites started well and could have scored in the first few minutes. Weather conditions deteriorated and lapses of concentration in the FJSC defence for a few minutes proved costly as

Bootle scored two goals in quick succession followed by a third just before half time. FJSC rallied in the second half with two goals scored by Max Berrie and Harry Nelson with a calm finish but Bootle once again came back strongly to add two further goals. It was an exciting match particularly in the second half.

FJSC Under 8’s entertained a strong Churchtown team. It was a good match played in terrible conditions. Well done to the two teams on a tremendous effort despite the weather. FJSC played well throughout with Zac Hooson-Jones scoring. Man of the match was Adam Patel.

FJSC Under 7 Whites played well against Redgate Black in another match in which the two teams did well to battle against the elements.

INTER CLUB FOOTBALL

It was another good day in the Inter Club Section. The new Year Five/Six coaching session proved to be a great success and the combined Reception and Year One training also went extremely well. The extra Under 7 Blacks coaching session before the Inter Club programme is also proving to be very popular. The Under 7 Whites will start their additional coaching after Christmas. With the growing number of boys in the Year Three/Four age group also having regular coaching before their matches now means that every boy attending Inter Club on Saturdays has the opportunity to have al least thirty minutes coaching followed by a match.

SATURDAY’S INTER CLUB SCORERS

The following boys were amongst the many scorers last Saturday – Harrison Weir, Daniel Johnson, Sam Mills, Jack Haggart, Max Byford, Jack Hansen, Ryan Lamb, Mason Stringer, Joseph Kenyon, Ethan Richmond, Ollie Dean and Alan Burness.

A MESSAGE TO BOYS FROM RECEPTION UP TO YEAR SIX INTERESTED IN FOOTBALL WHO ARE NOT IN A CLUB

It is an ideal time with one session before Christmas on Saturday 19th December for new boys interested in playing football to come along and give it a try. It does not matter if you have never really played football before because we will help coach you the skills to get started and introduce you to a friendly Inter Club game of football and teach you the rules as well.

OR

If you have played some football before you will be also able to enjoy the coaching and football matches as all our boys who play for our club teams (our Representative teams) play Inter Club football on Saturday mornings.

OR

If you are a young footballer looking for a team for next season and you are not at present in a team of another club, Formby Junior Sports Club is looking ahead now to next season (2021/22) and are starting to form new teams in preparation.

NEW TEAMS FOR NEXT SEASON

For Year One’s now, FJSC is looking to have two new Year Two (U8) next season.

For present Year Two, we are aiming to have one new team at U8 to add to the two teams we already have.

For present Year Three we will be having a new Year 4 (U9) team in addition to the team we have at the moment.

If possible, the club would like to form a Year 4 team now so that the team could play in the Craven Minor League as a Year 5 team (U10) next season.

Parents are asked to contact FJSC Chairman, Frank Rourke to express their interest by email to stellathecat4@gmail.com
