Formby will fall silent this November as residents come together to honour those who gave their lives in service to our country.
Remembrance Day will be marked on Sunday 9th November, with further commemorations on Armistice Day, Tuesday 11th November 2025.
Formby Remembrance Services 2025
As we approach Remembrance Day, we pause to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of all those who served in the two World Wars and in conflicts since.
The annual Remembrance Services have been arranged in collaboration between Sefton Council and the Formby branch of the Royal British Legion, inviting everyone in our community to come together in respect and remembrance.
Remembrance Sunday – 9th November
📍 Holy Trinity Church, Rosemary Lane
🕒 Service begins at 3:00pm
Followed by a Parade at 4:00pm to the War Memorial, then marching back to Holy Trinity Hall.
Important Update on This Year’s Formby Remembrance Parade
This year’s Formby Remembrance Parade will see some changes to the usual arrangements. The Gild Hall will not be used as a venue, as organisers have been informed that it has closed down.
In addition, the police have withdrawn their support to manage the parade. However, Sefton Council has stepped in to provide funding for security, ensuring that the event can continue safely and respectfully.
The parade route will therefore be different this year, starting from Holy Trinity Church following the service at 4pm proceeding to the War Memorial Gardens, and then returning to the church.
#Formby Village is looking truly beautiful this week, with vibrant red poppies adorning the lampposts and railings around the Formby War Memorial.
These touching displays have been lovingly arranged in preparation for Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, honouring those who gave their lives in service.
Advance Notice – Road Closure

🚧 Chapel Lane (from the roundabout to Rosemary Lane)
🕓 Sunday 9th November, between 4:00pm and 4:30pm
Please expect delays during this short period to allow the parade to pass safely.

The Poppy Appeal
The Poppy Appeal is now in full swing, with veterans and volunteers from the Formby Royal British Legion stationed at Tesco and Waitrose, offering a range of merchandise to raise vital funds.

Poppies are also available from selected shops and businesses throughout Formby and Freshfield — thank you to everyone showing their support.
Why We Remember
Remembrance Sunday is a national moment to reflect on the bravery and selflessness of those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
We remember the Armed Forces and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, as well as the emergency services and all those who have lost their lives through conflict or terrorism.
The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal continues to be a vital lifeline for veterans and their families, and your support makes a real difference.
Garden of Remembrance Crosses
The Garden of Remembrance at Formby Village War Memorial will be open from 1st November for anyone wishing to place a cross in memory of a loved one.
Crosses are available from Formby Home Store, with proceeds going to the Poppy Appeal, and at the Poppy stalls in Waitrose and Tesco.
We warmly encourage all residents to attend a service, wear their poppy with pride, and stand together as a community —
Lest We Forget.
