One of Formby’s most cherished Easter traditions is set to return this year as the Good Friday Walk of Witness and Passion Play takes place on Friday 3rd April.
Hosted by Churches Together in Formby, Altcar and Hightown, this powerful and moving community event brings the Easter story to life in a unique and public way, drawing residents together in reflection and unity.
The morning will begin at 11.00am near Boots on Chapel Lane, where participants will gather for the Walk of Witness through the village. At 11.15am, the walk will arrive at Formby Pool Gardens, where a live Passion Play will be performed. This dramatic re-enactment tells the story of the final days of Jesus through heartfelt performances, creating a truly memorable and meaningful experience.
Those attending are encouraged to wear purple or yellow, colours symbolising hope, renewal and the message of Easter.
Organised by Churches Together in Formby, Altcar and Hightown, the event continues to play an important role in keeping this long-standing tradition alive for the community. Whether you attend church regularly or simply wish to experience the Easter story in a powerful and public setting, everyone is warmly welcome.
This is a beautiful opportunity to come together as a village, reflect on the meaning of Easter and be part of something special in our Bubble.
Come along and take part in this inspiring Formby tradition.
