A Formby opticians has stepped in to support a much-loved junior football club with a generous £1,200 kit sponsorship.
Specsavers Formby has funded brand-new shirts for several teams at Formby Wanderers, who have been without a new kit for a number of years. The club’s teams include players aged 6 to 14 across multiple age groups.

The sponsorship covers both the back and sleeve of the shirts and aims to help promote inclusivity and accessibility for children in the Formby community to enjoy grassroots sport.
Zetun Arif, ophthalmic director at Specsavers Formby, said: “‘As a locally owned and run business, we’re really proud to support Formby Wanderers and the fantastic work they do for local children. Grassroots football is such an important part of our community — it builds confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging. We hope our contribution helps the teams play with pride and enjoy their football even more this season.”
Tom Fletcher, coach at Formby Wanderers, added:
‘We’re incredibly grateful to Specsavers Formby for their generous support. Many of our players have been part of the club for years and, with us adding teams to the club, it’s great to have every team playing in the same kit. It gives our players an identity and helps them feel part of something special. It’s amazing to see the pride on their faces when they put the kits on.”
Support like this makes a huge difference for grassroots clubs like ours. Kitting the teams out is the most expensive part of the game, and help like this enables us to continue offering affordable football for all.’
