Formby man jailed for 21 years for Sex Offences
Merseyside Police have yesterday, Thursday 14th October, welcomed the sentencing of a Sefton man for sex offences.
Paul Shields, 45, of Beechwood Drive, Formby, was jailed today at Liverpool Crown Court for 21 years after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences involving two females. The offences took place between 2006 and 2011.
Shields was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Detective Inspector Michelle Wilson said: “This is a significant custodial sentence that reflects the gravity of the offences committed by Paul Shields. I am pleased that he will now spend a considerable period of time behind bars for his actions.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to praise both of his victims for their courage and dignity throughout the whole of this investigation. As Shields pleaded not guilty they were forced to endure giving evidence in court.”
“I hope that the severity of the sentence handed out today gives them an opportunity to finally move on with their lives knowing that Shields is behind bars where he cannot cause hurt to anyone else.”
