Formby man hailed a local hero after he ran to the rescue of a 13-year-old Formby High student

A Formby mother is thankful to local hero, Sam Nicholson after he ran over to help her son, a Formby High student.

On Tuesday 16th August, the 13- year-old student was on his bike riding on Halsall Lane next to the M&S when he was hit by a recycling lorry. The bike was left twisted and in bits under the wheel but the driver did not know he had hit the student.

Our local hero, Sam Nicholson had witnessed the RTC and immediately ran over to stop the driver and then ran to help the student who was shaken and hurt. Miraculously, the student had minor injuries and was discharged from Alder Hey the same day.

The students mother said: “I think it’s always nice to know that there are still some hero’s left in our community and they certainly deserve recognition. Thankyou for being there Sam and helping my son.”

Well done Sam Nicholson and you are officially our hero of the month!
