Formby Junior Sports Club would like to wish all its members and their families a Merry Christmas
Football at Formby Junior Sports Club was back again last weekend to everyone’s delight before the Christmas and New Year break.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 14 Saturday team played against George’s Juniors. The match started off quite evenly. Some substitutions were then madewith tactical alterations as well and the game changed. Lucas Bowles made an immediateimpact scoring to break the deadlock after
twenty-five minutes play. James Cook then scored from an assist from Berat Ulusoy. Just before half time Alfie Holden scored the third FJSC goal from an assist from Lucas Bowles.
Isaac Loxham-Keenan scored early in the second half from an assist made by Charlie Garvey. Frankie Moon struck a twenty yard free kick for the fifth goal and to complete the scoring Isaac Loxham-Keenan scored his second goal of the match. It was a very good all round team performance with every member of the squad making important contributions.
FJSC Under 13 Blacks resumed their league campaign with a good away win against Crosby Stuart Under 13s. FJSC went behind early on as Crosby scored with a shot from distance. The windy conditions posed a challenge, but FJSC controlled possession and were looking to create chances at every opportunity. Ollie Dean found Ethan Donegan with a pass that split the defence but his shot was well saved, and then Ethan Richmond and Ethan Murphy combined well on the right before the goalkeeper made another excellent save, and Ethan Donegan was unlucky to see his rebound effort hit the cross bar. A deserved equaliser came about as Evan Hughes found Ethan Richmond in space on the edge of the penalty area and he turned and fired in a low drive to the far corner to make it 1-1.
FJSC pushed on in the second half having adapted to the conditions and went ahead early through an excellent individual goal scored by
Ethan Richmond, who combined well again with Ethan Murphy on the right and then drove forward beating a couple of defenders, before driving a shot home to make it 2-1. Patrick Fleming went close to scoring when his free kick hit the crossbar and the woodwork came to Crosby’s rescue again as Ethan Murphy’s follow up also hit the crossbar. A third goal came though through Ethan Richmond who completed his hat trick as he scored direct from a corner to put FJSC 3-1 up. Josh Kearney then hit a half volley that was well saved from outside the box, and Henry Copeland saw a clever chipped shot tipped over by the goalkeeper. Further goals did come from FJSC, as first Charlie Knowles swung in a shot from the right side of the penalty area that beat the keeper to make it 4-1, then Ethan Donegan scored two late goals, the first a low drive from the edge of the area and the second a long distance effort from the left to make the final score 6-1.
The game offered several contenders for goal of the season and was a spirited team performance. Man of the match went to Ethan Richmond for his hat trick and overall effort.
FJSC Under 12 Whites had another tough match against a strong Redgate Rovers Blacks. FJSC competed much better than the scoreline suggests but Redgate were clinical with their chances whilst FJSC didn’t manage to take theirs. Lucas Lewis and Luke Greenbank came closest with great efforts that both hit the bar. FJSC battled well all over the pitch and the development is clear even though results are hard to come by in the Premier League.
FJSC Under 10 Reds last match of 2023 saw them away to Prescott Cables JFC. The Reds started strongly and took the lead in the first half through Tommy Collins who spun in the box to complete a fine
finish to the goalkeeper’s left. Prescott Cables battled back but the Reds held strong and took the lead into half time.
Prescott Cables started the second half much the same as they finished the first half and although the Reds were resolute with Isaac Pepper and James Hannan particularly strong in front of keeper Brett McKeown the threadbare Reds squad with no substitutesavailable
eventually conceded to allow Prescott Cables to equalise and then go ahead with two goals. The Reds clawed one back when a fine through ball by Campbell Woodcock to Chase Lowen saw him round the keeper and celebrate his debut with a goal. Man of the Match was Tom Murphy for a dynamic midfield display.
FJSC Under 9 Reds were away at Southport FC Gold. FJSC were quickly put under pressure from a well organised Southport Gold. Some great defending from Josh Robinson and Archie Taylor stopped Southport from taking an early lead. A great break down the right side saw FJSC’s SebHoughton narrowly miss. Southport continued to put on the pressure but some superb saves from Luke Madutlela helped FJSC finish the half all square at 0-0.
In the second half Southport scored threegoals in a ten minute spell. FJSC tried in earnest to reply and were unlucky on a couple of occasions not to score. Unfortunately, time ran out with no further goals being scored. Two performances stood out for FJSC. They were Luke Madutlela’s goalkeeping, where he pulled off some amazing saves and Sebastian Houghton’s endless running and tackling which earned him the Man of the Matchaccolade.
FJSC Under 6 Whites played Crosby Juniors. It was very close in the early stages with FJSC leading 3-2. However, with every member of the squad playing well the Whites pulled away scoring a number of very good goals. Arthur Higgins, Noah Ignatowicz and Leo Rogers were all on the scoresheet. The Whites continue to improve with every game.
FJSC Under 6 Blacks were in action against ESC Grey. The Blacks started well and went into a comfortable lead with some great goals. The boys all worked really hard and chased everything, allowing the opposition no space or time on the ball. The pressing by Thomas Mitchel, Ollie Jones and Theo Thomas was superb. FJSC added more goals to their tally and ESC also scored a number of goals themselves to reduce the deficit in this very entertaining match. Thomas Mitchell, Ollie Jones, Tayo Popoola, Teddy Marron and Cole Jones were all scorers for FJSC. It was a very good result especially against a team that earlier in the season the Under 6 Blacks had lost to by quite a few goals.
