Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 8 White Saturday team gained their first league win of the season in yet another weekend when heavy rain resulted in pitches being unplayable and only four matches were played.
REPRESESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 8 Whites played a very good Ormskirk West End Clarets in the Hightown Junior League and after listening intently to the coaches pre match instructions produced their best performance of the season so far. Two goals from Sonny Clarke and one from Tayo Popoola was enough to see the boys rewarded with a well-deserved victory. The coaches could not be prouder of the boys. The Coaches Man of the Match was jointly shared by Sonny Clarke and Cormac Nice. The Parents’ Man of the Match was Oli Jones. Also playing well in this very good team effort were Archie Parrish, Albee Fairhurst, James Witterick and Harry Brown. See team photograph above.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks travelled to Skelmersdale to play Prescott Cables in the West Lancashire Junior League. It was a great game between the two mid table teams. After a real tussle FJSC just came out on top winning 4-3 thanks to two goals from Archie Walker and one goal each from Tom Murphy and Finn McDerby.
Despite a challenging match against Crosby Stuart the FJSC Under 11 Gold team showed remarkable determination and spirit throughout the match. With sickness limiting the squad and leaving the team with no available substitutes, every player had to dig deep and they absolutely rose to the challenge.
The second half saw the Gold team rediscover their spark. Charlie Herbert opened the scoring with a superb finish following a beautifully weighted assist from Lewis McColl. Moments later, the roles were reversed, with Lewis McColl finding the net thanks to an excellent set up by CharlieHerbert. Their link-up play was a real highlight of the game.
Gabriel Doran also impressed, showing confidence both on and off the ball. His work rate, control, and decision-making reflected huge improvements that lifted the team as a whole. Every player gave one hundred per cent effort, demonstrating teamwork and resilience. There is a noticeable improvement in team performances from week to week. Player of the Match Leo McBurney wasoutstanding in goal making brilliant shot-stopping saves and his excellent vocal organisation throughout gave much confidence to his team mates.
FJSC Under 10 Whites battled really well in the away fixture against Southport Trinity White . The game started at a fast tempo with Austin Faraday having a great shot on target within the first minute which was well saved by the Trinity keeper. FJSC’s usual goalkeeperTeddy Mills was absent but his replacement for the day Joseph Elsey made some excellent saves.
Although losing 3 nil at half time the game was still all to play for with Formby having some excellent shots on target but again Southport’s goalkeeper was alert and again made some great saves. Eventually Trinity weathered the storm and added a few more goals before the final whistle.
All the FJSC boys should be really proud of themselves for their stamina sapping efforts and for all doing their best against a goodSouthport Trinity team. The Man of the MatchAward was shared jointly by Austin Faradayfor his determination and Joseph Elsey for his fantastic display in goal.
