Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 14’s and Under 13’s won their matches in style at the weekend

Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 14’s and Under 13’s won their matches in style at the weekend.  The two Under 11 teams gainedvery good results and FJSC Under 10 Whites Saturday team’s excellent season continues to gain momentum.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 14 Blacks  started very brightly in their Hightown Junior League  match against Davenhill last Saturday.   Archie Ogden scored twice in the first few minutes.  The first was from an assist from Luca Massey and a Daniel Hill pass set up the second goal.   James Cook added a third FJSC goal before half time from an Archie Ogden assist.  Just after half time Archie Ogden then completed his hat trick.  Davenhill scored with a spectacular shot from the half way line to lift their hopes.  However it soon became 5-1 for FJSC when a second assist from Daniel Hill set up Charlie Garvey to score the best goal of the match with a twenty yard curling shot into the top corner of the net.   Man of the match Charlie Garvey then scored again with a twenty yard free kick to complete a very good 6-1 win.   See team photograph above.

On Sunday FJSC Under 14’s played Greenloons in a friendly match.  FJSC won 7-1 with Archie Ogden being named Man of  the Match.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks played at home against Southport Hesketh Whites and produced arguably their best performance of the season to come away with a seven nil win. Ethan Richmond opened the scoring early in the game as he met a right wing cross from Ethan Murphy. Ethan Murphy then turned goal scorer and put FJSC two up when he collected a pass from Ethan Donegan and rounded the keeper before slotting the ball into the net. Ethan Richmond added his second of the game, after running onto a left wing cross from Josh Kearney. Riley Higgs then made an important save with his feet as he came out from goal to deny an opportunity for Southport Hesketh, before FJSC added two more goals before half time. Ethan Richmond completed his hat trick when he pounced on a shot from Ethan Murphy that had rebounded off the post to make it four nil, and then Abe Rice produced a controlled finish to make it five, after Josh Kearney had seen his initial effort well saved.

FJSC controlled the game in the second half and added two further goals. The first was scored by Ethan Richmond when he followed up an initial shot from Abe Rice that the keeper did well to stop. The last goal came as Ollie Dean broke down the left wing and crossed to Ethan Murphy who placed the ballpast the keeper with a well taken first time effort.

This was an excellent team performance with many candidates for player of the match, but the coaches awarded it to Ethan Donegan for his mature display throughout the game.

FJSC Under 12 Whites played Southport FC for the second match in succession.  After a strong performance against the same opposition in their last match FJSC looked solid at the back despite losing Sylvan O’Hara from centre back after only a few minutes. A dangerous Southport cross found the space between Harry Ball in goal and the defence to allow a Southport player to open the scoring before half time. There were lots to be positive about as FJSC now had the wind behind themin the second half created plenty of chances, especially on the break. Ultimately it was a familiar tale of the opposition being more clinical in front of goal resulting in a 4 nil final scoreline despite the constant efforts of all the FJSC boys who played some really nice football in patches.

FJSC Under 11 Whites had an exciting match against Southport FC Yellow.  Both teams started well but midway through the first half Isaac Jones opened the scoring for FJSC.  Noah Lace then doubled the lead scoring with a well taken penalty.  Jacob Davies made it 3 nil with a long range effort before Southport scored just before half time.

There were chances for each team after the interval before two goals from Isaac Jones to complete a fine hat trick settled the match.  Reece Bagley, Jacob Underwood and Jacob Davies all had excellent matches but the Man of the Match was Noah Lace.

FJSC Under 11 Black Sunday team looked to stretch their unbeaten record in the second to last Craven Minor game of the season against Formby Community FC. FJSC started well with both Alex Barr and Louis O’Connor looking to dictate play from the back with some great football. This set the tone for the rest of the team as FJSC looked to use the full width of the pitch as they probed for openings in the FCFC defence. After fifteen minutes a well worked move in midfield between Ben Webster and Ellis Coyne saw the latter thread a ball through to Caden Walker who broke the defensive line and coolly slotted home to give FJSC a 1 nil lead. With the FJSC defence using Oscar Phillips in goal to try and spread the play and drag FCFC out, FJSC created more chances but just could not get past a great first half performance from the FCFC goalkeeper.

At 1-0 half time FJSC knew the game was not over with and pushed early on in the second half to make it 2 nil. A combination of the post, great defensive blocks and a brilliant goalkeeping performance kept the score at 1nil. Ellis Coyne and Ben Webster droveforward at every opportunity and FJSC found themselves camped in the FCFC half. After another FCFC clearance Alex Barr collected the ball and pushed forward and took a long range shot. The ball found the back of the net to make it 2 nil. Soon afterwards FJSC scored a third goal before FCFC broke well down the right wing and forced a good save from Oscar Phillips and after a great block from Louis O’Connor a FCFC player collected therebound and smashed the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-1.

From the kick off FJSC looked to regain their three goal advantage and after good play from Alfie Forsyth and Charlie Richardson a cornerwas won which Luke Millington delivered to Ellis Coyne who finished into the bottom corner to make it 4-1. Man of the Match wasLouis O’Connor.

FJSC Under 10 Saturday team faced off against Kingsway in a top of the table clash at the summit of the Hightown Premier League. FJSC have had a wonderful season and were playing Kingsway for the fourth time. Kingsway, the only team to have beaten FJSC White this year, had won two of the previousthree meetings.

Determined to keep themselves at the top of the table, FJSC started brilliantly and raced into a two nil lead courtesy of Diego Funes-Cervera, with two excellent breakaway goals. FJSC then had to battle as Kingsway grew into the game. However Isaac Rimmer kept up his impeccable form in defence and Kingswaycould find no way past Edgar Johnson in goal.

Before the break FJSC won a penalty after Zac McHugh and Jaiden Crosby linked up nicely to set Kayden Watters free down the right, before he was fouled in the box and allowed Clayton Connolly to score to make it 3 nil.

At the start of the second half Kingsway pulled one goal back, before Formby scored two more. The first was a brilliant header from Zac McHugh and then Clayton Connollyscored a second penalty.   Kingsway pulled two goals back.  FJSC could have had moregoals themselves as Josh Halpin and Huey Stevenson had fantastic games in midfield, being able to break up opposition attacks, and also set FJSC away up front. FJSC maintained their good form to the end of this eight goal thriller and have now won four out of fourmatches in their return to the Premier League with three league games and a cup final to go.  Whatever happens, this has been an exceptional season for the boys.

FJSC Under 10 Whites were in action on Sunday when they played FJSC Reds.  In unfamiliar blue shirts FJSC Whites played some excellent football.  Diego Funes- Cervera and Zac Mc Hugh were the Whites scorers.  FJSC Reds tried very hard and created some chances especially in the second half but could not score.  Man of the Match for the Reds was Joel Wright who produced a battling performance throughout the game.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks played a very good Southport Trinity Blue team with a couple of crucial players missing.   The boys tried very hard but Trinity were a little too strong on the day.

FJSC Under 6 Whites enjoyed a competitive match against a strong Marina Gremio team.FJSC went down 4-1 early on, but the boys rallied back to 4-3. Unfortunately, theycouldn’t push on and conceded two more goals. There were brilliant long range goals from Man of the Match Leo Rogers and Cormac Nice.

FJSC Under 6 Blacks played Stocky Black.  Man of Match was Thomas Mitchell and the Referee’s Man of the Match for his sportsmanship was awarded to Theo Thomas.
