Formby Junior Sports Club is very proud to announce that this voluntary club is 67 years old this week.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 12 Whites headed into the New Year in good shape after a busy and positive Christmas period, taking part in two tournaments – one at LFC Academy (see squad photo above) and another at Burscough. The boys performed well across both events, keeping sharp and competitive throughout the festive break.
On Sunday, FJSC Whites faced a tough challenge in the West Lancashire Junior League when they played Northfield, widely regarded as one of the strongest teams in the local area, in the opening game of the Winter Premier League . The match was played in difficult snowy conditions and was a real test of character for the boys. Despite a battling performance, the team were unlucky to come away with a narrow 2–1 defeat.
With several key players missing and no substitutes available, the boys showed tremendous resilience and organisation throughout. They competed strongly for long periods and were unfortunate not to take at least a point from the game.
Lucas Guest was excellent in goal, making a number of important saves. At the back, Reuben Hunt, Kayden Watters and Lucas Glennon were all outstanding, defending bravely and dealing well with sustained pressure. In midfield, Josh Halpin and FinnbarCoss worked tirelessly and provided a solid platform, while Huey Stevenson and Zac McHugh gave the team natural width and a valuable out-ball when under pressure.
Up front, Paddy O’Callaghan stepped in as a makeshift striker and ran himself into the ground for the team. His work rate and commitment were first class, and he was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet. FJSC’s goal came from Kayden Watters.
Overall, despite the result, this was a very encouraging performance full of effort, discipline and togetherness, particularly given the circumstances. The boys can take a lot of positives from the game moving forward.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks Sunday team also played and drew 0-0 with MHS Madrid. Man of the Match was Joe Prendergast.
FJSC Under 15 Blacks match was cancelled due to a frozen pitch and snow.
Weather permitting there will be a full programme of FJSC team fixtures next weekend including matches in the Craven Minor League, Hightown Junior League, Sefton and Knowsley Development League as well as the West Lancashire Junior League.
