Formby High School Celebrates Excellent GCSE Results as Class of 2026 Shines 🎓👏

There are celebrations at Formby High School today as Year 11 students receive another excellent set of GCSE results, reflecting their determination, resilience and ambition throughout their studies.

The school has reported strong results in both English and Maths, with more than three quarters of students achieving Grade 4 or above in both subjects, while half of all students secured at least Grade 5 in both.

Almost 90% of students achieved Grade 4 or above in English, with more than 80% achieving the same standard in Maths.

Success was also seen right across the curriculum. More than 30% of all GCSE entries achieved Grade 7 or above, while nearly 70% achieved Grade 5 or higher, with strong results across a wide range of subjects, including vocational qualifications.

More than 60% of students achieved at least five Grade 5 passes or above, helping to prepare them for their next steps in further education, employment or training.

There were also some exceptional individual achievements, with 22 students securing eight or more GCSEs at Grade 7 or above.

Headteacher Mr Alex Wood congratulated the students, saying: “I would like to congratulate all of our students on their achievements. These results reflect their hard work and commitment, alongside the support and care of their families and the dedication and expertise of our hard-working team of staff.”

“We are very proud of everything this year group has accomplished and we look forward to seeing their continued success.”

The majority of the Class of 2026 will now continue their studies at Formby High School’s Sixth Form, with plenty of excitement this morning as students enrolled on their new courses.

The school is looking forward to welcoming them back in September, alongside a number of new students joining from other schools across the area.

For those moving on to new opportunities, Formby High School has wished them every success for the future and thanked them for everything they have contributed to school life.
