Formby Community Football Club Hosts Heartwarming VE Day Afternoon Tea

Formby Community FC hosted a wonderful VE Day Afternoon Tea on Friday, bringing together volunteers and members of the local community who were supported by the club during the COVID pandemic.

During lockdown, FCFC volunteers supported vulnerable residents with shopping, prescription collections and welfare calls. The afternoon was organised as an opportunity to reconnect and bring everyone together once again in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Guests enjoyed a traditional cream tea with strawberries and cream, alongside live music from local rock and roll band Mike Byrne and the Sunrockers, who helped create a fantastic atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

A huge thank you goes to Wall of Fame, who generously donated the use of their brilliant venue free of charge. It was wonderful to see the space filled with so many smiling faces and members of the community enjoying themselves together.

FCFC would also like to thank Cassidy’s Greengrocers and Lunch Hour Caterers for their support in helping make the afternoon such a success.

Special thanks also go to all of the volunteers who helped organise and run the afternoon, as well as to everyone who attended and generously donated to the club on the day.

The event was funded through donations made to the club from a collection held at Ron Lines’ funeral, in memory of Ron and Alma Lines, alongside support from the club’s community fund. FCFC is incredibly grateful that their memory helped bring the community together once again in such a positive and meaningful way.

Following the success of the afternoon, the club is already looking forward to hosting another community event in the future.
