Families in need across Formby are set to benefit after a local charity secured more than £140 worth of essential groceries during a 60-second Snappy Shopper Store Dash.
Woodvale and Ainsdale Community Association was invited to Premier Holly’s Formby on Redgate to take part in the supermarket-style challenge, held to celebrate the launch of the store’s new quick delivery service with Snappy Shopper.
The store, formerly Holly’s Minimart, reopened last week following a major refurbishment and expansion.

Charity representatives Sue Taylor and Ellie Marshall raced around the store, filling their baskets with everyday cupboard essentials including cereal, tea and coffee, and tinned goods. In total, they secured £141.25 worth of groceries, all funded by Snappy Shopper. The donation will be used to support the charity’s lunch clubs and emergency food parcels for families in need.
Based at Woodvale Community Centre on Meadow Lane, the community association has supported local residents for more than 25 years. Its work includes toddler groups, youth clubs and lunch clubs, alongside vital food support to help families cope with the rising cost of living.
Speaking after the dash, Sue Taylor said:
“We support a lot of elderly and isolated people through our lunch clubs, as well as families who are struggling. Having fresh, in-date food really makes a difference. It means families can put more of their money towards heating and other essentials, and we can offer more variety in the meals we provide.”
Ellie Marshall added:
“The donations from the dash will help us support children who may not otherwise receive regular meals during the February half term.”
The Store Dash formed part of the launch celebrations for Premier Holly’s new Snappy Shopper service, which also included spin-to-win prizes, a face painter and money-off vouchers for online orders.

Shoppers across Formby can now order groceries, drinks and household essentials from Premier Holly’s Formby via the Snappy Shopper app, with delivery available in as little as 30 to 60 minutes.
A Snappy Shopper spokesperson said:
“We were delighted to support the launch of quick delivery at Premier Holly’s Formby. Ellie and Sue put in an incredible dash, and supporting organisations like Woodvale and Ainsdale Community Association is exactly what these launch events are about.”
New customers can use the code
