FJSC U8 Blacks team performance was the highlight of the weekend’s football

Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 8 Blacksteam performance was the highlight of what was another frustrating weekend’s football for the majority of FJSC’s teams and the Inter Club Section.   Football pitches were either waterlogged or unfit to play on with the addition of some matches having already beencancelled due to half term holidays.  Roll on to March and hopefully much better weather.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC U8 Black played away at Redgate Rovers Green looking to maintain their great start since the beginning of January. The game started off end to end with both teams pushing for the first goal. It went to FJSC Blacks with a well worked team goal when Eoin Follett made a brilliant run into the box and slotted the ball home from five yards.  FJSC were very impressive, working hard and passing the ball brilliantly.

FJSC continued the scoring with Alfie Alston breaking from midfield with a strong run and calmly directing the ball in the bottom cornerto double the lead.  The second half was just as impressive and further goals from Alfie Alston, Eoin Follet and Jack Brown extended the lead.   Otto Johnson defended very welland came very close to scoring. Joseph Woodward was also in great form again.  The Player of the match award could have gone to all of the team but on this occasion was shared by Eoin Follett and Jack Brown. See the team photograph above.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks played their Hightown League first round of the Shield Competition with only ten players available due to holidays.  The boys tried very hard against Lydiate FC and held their opponents until the last five minutes when Lydiate made sure of victory by scoring twice to win 5-2.  Isaac Loxham-Keenan scored for FJSC.

FJSC Black Under 11 started their campaign in the Hightown Under 11 Premier Cup. Playing against a good TQ Santos team who had pace all over the pitch, FJSC started well but didn’t really create any clear cut chances though the passing was better than it had been in the last few weeks on a Saturday. Unfortunately just before half time after a great double save by Oscar Phillips, FJSC could not clear their lines and TQ Santos went in at half time leading 1 nil.

FJSC had it all to play for in the second half but within the first five minutes two more goals were conceded.   An out of charactersecond half collapse allowed TQ to score another three goals in the space of as many minutes.  It was a disappointing result with a lot of soul searching to be done over the coming week before the next cup game against Bootle. Man of the match was Oscar Phillips.

FJSC Under 6 Whites were in action against Crosby Juniors and played exceptionally well.  The team passed the ball with accuracy and the positional play is improving each week which is bringing about pleasing results.  The FJSC goals were scored by Man of the Match Noah Ignatowicz which included a spectacular goal from an overhead kick and from Leo Rogers , Arthur Higgins and Anders Carter with his first ever goal for the team.  Cormac Nice also had a very good match.

FJSC Under 6 Blacks played very good opponents Vision Boca.  FJSC made a lot of unnecessary mistakes which were capitalised on by Vision’s sharp shooters who went into a three goal lead having scored three goals from three shots.  Vision added to the score but Thomas Mitchell and Joshua Wright scoredwith brilliant free kicks to reduce the deficit and lift the team with their never stop runningand were voted the Players of the Match.
