Formby Junior Sports Club’s planned football at Deansgate Lane Playing Fields was quite rightly cancelled by Sefton Council last weekend due to unfit pitches and as a result, only a handful of away matches were able to take place over the weekend.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 7 Whites travelled to HeskethBank Ambers and got off to a great start with Kayden Dowdall finishing well on the break. On his second game Albie York took his chance to double the lead. Unfortunately the Whites were soon on the defence as the strong Hesketh Bank team came back strongly only to be denied initially by the FJSC goalkeeperToby Woodcock who made some great savesincluding a brave stop which he pushed onto the crossbar. Hesketh Bank eventually broke through scoring several goals. To their creditFJSC got back into the game with some solid work on the wing grafting and battling throughout the second half. FJSC had a couple of chances late on to add to their score. It was a good determined effort by the Whites but on the day the home team were worthy winners. See team photograph above.
In the West Lancashire Junior League FJSC Under 12 Blacks played unbeaten league leaders Ashton Athletic Newts. The Newts scored the only goal of the match in the first half. The Blacks dug deep and contained the very good Ashton Team for the remainder of the match.
FJSC’s three Under 6 teams were also in action in the Sefton and Knowsley Development League playing on the artificialpitches at Goals in Netherton.
