British Heart Foundation shop in Formby Village has now permanently closed

The British Heart Foundation shop in Formby Village has now closed its doors for the final time.
The charity shop at The Cloisters has been a familiar part of Formby Village for many years, with local residents supporting the charity by shopping there, donating unwanted items and volunteering at the store.
A large notice has now appeared in the window confirming that the Formby shop has closed.
The message reads:
“Sorry, this shop is now closed. Thank you for your support through the years!”

Customers are also being directed to the nearest British Heart Foundation shop, which the notice says is at 18 Burscough Street, Ormskirk, L39 2ER.
The closure comes during a period of significant change for the charity. Earlier this year, the British Heart Foundation announced plans to close around 150 of its shops across the UK over two years, citing rising operating costs and changing shopping habits.
The charity said the changes were necessary to ensure its retail operation remained financially sustainable and could continue raising money towards lifesaving research into heart and circulatory diseases.

For Formby, the closure means the loss of another familiar name from the Village and leaves another prominent retail unit waiting for a new occupant.
There is currently no indication of what could take over the premises, but Formby Bubble will keep residents updated if plans for the unit emerge.
