Merseyside Police have sadly confirmed that a body discovered in the pinewoods in Formby is that of a missing man from Liverpool.
At around 6.50pm on Friday, 16th May, police received reports that the body of a man had been found in the woods. Following a forensic examination, the man has now been formally identified as 56-year-old Bogdan Madajewski, who had been reported missing from his home on Wednesday, 14th May.
Mr Madajewski was last seen on CCTV at Bootle Strand train station on Wednesday morning. At the time, he was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt with lighter-coloured cuffs, dark trousers or jeans, and dark shoes. He was also carrying a light-coloured rucksack with straps over both shoulders.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file has been passed to the coroner. Officers are currently supporting Mr Madajewski’s family through this difficult time.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
