Another weekend of superb results for Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report here…

Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams are in a rich vein of form at the moment with yet another weekend of superb results.  The teams scored a total of fifty goals between them and collectively only conceded ten goals.    It was also a very enjoyable Inter Club Saturday with the highlight being the culmination of the very successful Year 5/6 Mini Tournament.  See photograph above). After a thrilling final Royal Albion narrowly won 2-1 against Park United in a repeat of the first ever FJSC Cup Final sixty-three years ago.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM REPORTS

FJSC Under 13’s Saturday team played Fazakerley Rangers on a waterlogged pitch.  Luca Massey gave FJSC the lead with a great finish from a Berat Ulusoy corner after eleven minutes.  Although more chances were created  the score remained the same way into the second half.  Fazakerley Rangers began to get stronger but FJSC made sure of the three points when Harrison McGrath scored with a thunderous twenty-two yard free kick late on.  Man of the match was debutant Joseph Frost.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks played away against Southport Hesketh in an entertaining but tight game were both team’s defences came out on top, and the match finished in a goalless draw. In the first half, Patrick Fleming came close to scoring when he collected a pass from Abe Rice and his first time shot was well saved. Henry Renton also came close when he hit the cross bar with a shot after receiving a pass from Ollie Dean who had run in behind the Hesketh defence. In between those chances, Riley Higgs pulled off an excellent save to prevent Southport Hesketh from taking the lead on the break.

In the second half, half chances fell to Ethan Richmond who drove a low shot just wide, Patrick Fleming who came close from a free kick and to Josh Kearney who found some space following a clever one two with Ethan Richmond, but the goal that their efforts deserved eluded them. At the other end, Sam Uttley and Evan Hughes kept Southport at bay as they defended well in difficult conditions.

This was another strong team performance and man of the match was awarded to Evan Hughes who defended well throughout the game.  FJSC Under 12 Black are now unbeaten in their last five matches.

FJSC Under 11 Whites used the match against Southport Trinity Whites to experiment with all the starting line up playing in different positions apart from goalkeeper Harry Ball.  The management team were pleased with how the boys responded with early pressure being put on their opponents. Ben Harris playing on the right made one of many great runs andfrom one of his crosses Ralph Renton finished nicely to give FJSC the lead. Trinity were given a little bit too much room and soon found an equaliser. Noah Bate then took a great touch from a Trinity goal kick and with a beautiful long range strike restored the lead. More uncertainty at the back allowed Trinity to find another equaliser.   Sylvan O’Hara thengot his head to another great corner from Lucas Lewis to put FJSC in the lead for the third time just before half time in what was turning out to be a really entertaining match.

Noah Bate was looking really sharp around the Southport Trinity box and after great determination Noah forced the ball home to double the lead for his team .  Similar work rate from Ralph Renton was rewarded when he also scrambled the ball over the line for a5-2 lead.   It remained an open game and the improved fitness and physicality of the team was really helping them to stay on top.  Trinity were then awarded a penalty which was finished well giving Harry Ball no chance. With Trinity pushing late on, Luke Greenwood picked up the ball just outside the FJSC area and ran the full length of the pitch before slotting the ball past the keeper to seal the win and grab the goal that his performances over the last few matches had thoroughly deserved.  There was an incredible attitude from the boys who are working so hard and are really enjoying their football at the moment!

FJSC Under 10 Whites played Southport and Ainsdale Amateurs and produced another very good team performance. In the first half there were goals scored by Isaac Jones, JackRichards, Oscar Buch-Platt, Albie Salters and Nate Daniels. The good football continued in the second half with more goals including a brace from Gregory Houghton.  The boys continue to perform strongly in the South League as they prepare for the Cup Final next Sunday against Redgate Yellow.

FJSC Under 9 Reds were away to FJSC Blacks for the local derby with their club friends.  It was a keenly contested match.  The Reds took the lead with a well taken Zak McHugh goal but the Blacks equalised shortly afterwards to make things even.  After some quick thinking goalkeeper James Hannan provided a long range assist for a goal when Joel Wright scored with an audacious shot from near the corner flag.

The second half started much the same as the first with the competitiveness continuing. The Reds swapped keepers at half time and James Hannan turned from keeper to striker to grab another goal for the Reds with the Blacks replying shortly after. The Blacks pressed for the equaliser but were foiled in part by some fine keeping by Isaac Pepper who was making his debut goalkeeping appearance.  The Coaches Man of the Match award went to James Hannan.

FJSC Under 8 Whites bounced back from last week’s defeat to put in a very good team performance against Southport and Ainsdale Amateur Reds. FJSC took an early lead only for S and A to score twice.  Henry Williamson then grabbed an outstanding equaliser.  It was then end to end football for the rest of the first half with Southport & Ainsdale just ahead atthe interval.   FJSC took control in the second half producing a great team performance. Jack Haggart proved to be the match winner once again with strikes that took the game away from the opposition. Henry Williamson picked up man of the match after two goals and helping the team out by going in goal and keeping a clean sheet.

FJSC Under 8 Blacks made the early and long trip to Dynamo Burscough.  FJSC trailed by one goal at half time but produced an outstanding second half display with Ashley Jones scoring a hat trick, Nathan Hyslop with two goals and Isaac Daniels also on target forthis ever improving FJSC team.

FJSC Under 7 Whites were in action against Redgate Rovers Yellow.  Charlie Ormeshergave FJSC an early lead.  Jack Brown then scored his first of the match.  The Whites gave Redgate no time to settle.  Harry Hughes in defence kept the Redgate forwards at bay and Charlie Vernon won back possession for his team on many occasions.  Jack Brown and Charlie Ormesher added to their goal tally in the second half and it was pleasing to see Harry Hughes also on the scoresheet late on.  Charlie Fazakerley was awarded man of the match.   Austin Faraday and Oliver Parrish also played very well.

It was an amazing team performance by the boys and the improvement made since the beginning of the season is now very noticeable.

INTER CLUB SECTION

It was Cup Final day for the Year 5/6 Inter Club Mini Competition.  The match to decide which team would be the tournament winners was between Royal Albion and Park United.  The 3rd and 4th Play Off match was an encounter between Pinewood Athletic and Sandune Rovers.

ROYAL ALBION  2  PARK UNITED  1

Park United took the lead after only thirty seconds when Evan Meehan scored with a poacher’s goal.  In a very even and exciting first half both teams had chances but there were no further goals.  Royal Albion began to get on top after the interval but were denied an equalising goal due to some outstanding saves from Park United’s goalkeeper Harry Ball.   With ten minutes remaining Royal Albion eventually drew level when a Tobias Rigby cross was headed home by Lucas Lewis.  The match went into Golden Time but after just one minute Nick Kostakis was in the right place at the right time to score Royal Albion’s winner.

SANDUNE ROVERS  2  PINEWOOD ATHLETIC  4

Sandune Rovers went ahead in the first half and held the lead until after half time.  Pinewood Athletic scored to make it 1-1.  The match went up a gear with a great tussle between the two teams.  Pinewood eventually went ahead and finally won 4-2.  Terence Etimscored a hat trick for the winners with Noah Tyler-Holland completing Pinewood’s scoring.  Zac Hooson-Jones and Harry McCluskie scored one goal each for Sandune Rovers.
