This permanent part time role offers 9 hours per week on a flexible working pattern, with a pay rate of £12.71 per hour. Applications close on Monday 13 July 2026, although candidates are encouraged to apply early as interviews will be held throughout the recruitment period.
As the face of the charity on the high street, Age UK shops play a vital role in raising funds that help provide essential services and support for older people across the UK. The successful applicant will help deliver an excellent shopping experience while supporting the day to day running of the store.
The role includes assisting customers, handling sales and cash, rotating stock, creating attractive displays, keeping the shop tidy and well organised, and deputising for the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager when required. Applicants should be comfortable working as part of a team, and also be able to work independently when necessary.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be able to lift and carry bags of donated stock weighing up to 10kg. The position also requires flexibility to work across a seven day rota, including weekends, with additional hours available to cover holidays, sickness and special shop events.
Age UK is looking for someone with previous customer service experience, cash handling skills and a positive, flexible approach to work. Applicants must be aged 18 or over, as there will be occasions when the successful candidate is required to work alone in the shop.
The charity offers an excellent range of benefits, including 25 days annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays, a generous pension scheme, life assurance, a Bupa health cashback plan, wellbeing days, Blue Light Card membership, Cycle to Work and Home & Tech schemes, employee assistance support and recognition awards.
Age UK is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds. The charity is also a Disability Confident employer, offering guaranteed interviews to disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria.
