A tribute to Barry Atkinson, local craftsman jeweller for 34 years in Formby - 1944 to 2022
Barry Atkinson, jeweller in Formby for 34 years sadly passed away on Monday 16th May after collapsing at home a few days earlier.
Barry Atkinson Jewellers have been a family run business since 1972. They set up their first workshop in Leyland in 1972, where they provided jewellery repairs for trade jewellers and the general public. They expanded to a retail environment in the August of 1977 on Hough Lane, which included their working jeweller workshops on site.
The Formby shop was established in 1988, some 34 years ago. The shop was a very well established jewellery retail store in addition to having a working jewellers workshop on site.
The Formby store will now only open on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday before sadly closing its doors over the next few weeks.
There will be a ‘Celebration of Barry Atkinson’s life’ Funeral Service on Tuesday 7th June at 11am at St Ambrose Church, Leyland. This will be followed by a committal at Charnock Richard Crematorium at 12:30pm.
Barry Atkinson was a much loved and respected member of the Formby community and will always be remembered.
Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
