A man in his 60s is being treated for severe injuries after last nights house fire in Formby
A man in his 60s is being treated in hospital for severe injuries after a house fire in Formby.
The male suffered critical injuries following the blaze at a home on Holmwood Drive around 8pm last night, Tuesday 3rd January.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious and police have not been asked to carry out an investigation.
Emergency services were rushed to the property following a panicked 999 call.
A male, believed to be over 60 years of age, was rescued from the property but required instant medical attention.
He remains in hospital.
Police taped off Barkfield Lane and Holmwood Drive in Formby with no access for members of the public.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: “Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended an incident on Holmwood Drive, Formby on the evening of Tuesday 3rd January.
Crews were alerted at 18.45 and two fire engines were on scene at 18.52. A further three fire engines attended to provide additional breathing apparatus support, taking the total number of appliances to 5 at the height of the incident.”
”North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Police also attended. An initial two firefighters were committed to fight the fire in breathing apparatus (BA) with a hose reel jet and search the two storey detached house. An additional two firefighters in BA were deployed to the property with a further hose reel jet taking the total firefighters inside the property to 4.”
“The fire was extinguished soon after and ventilation of the property ensued.
The scene was handed over to Merseyside Police and our crews left the scene at 22.27hrs.”
