Village Vets Charity Dog Show now in its 8th year!

Village Vets will be hosting their 8th Annual Dog Show on Saturday 31st August 2019 on their grounds at 1 Brows Lane in Formby.

This event has become a regular fixture on the Formby calendar and promises to be as fun and entertaining as always.

Classes this year will include: cutest puppy, waggiest tail, most handsome male, prettiest female, best rescue, best trick, owner/ dog lookalike, young handler, best veteran, best dressed and more… The winner of each class is then entered into Best in Show.

Practice Owner, Kate Higgins said of the event “The show gets bigger and better each year! We’ve cleared a little more space in the garden this winter so we have a bit more to work with. Our brilliant local dog display team, West Lancs will be providing some entertainment, there’ll be live music through the afternoon, and we have some great prizes lined up for the raffle - it promises to be a really fun day.”

There will also be craft stalls, games, pony rides, face painting, pet photographer, and of course tea, coffee and our famous homemade cakes! Proceeds are donated to charity and this year will be going to the Samaritans. Samaritans is a unique charity dedicated to reducing feelings of isolation and disconnection that can lead to suicide. Every six seconds they respond to a call for help. Kate added, “The veterinary profession has a high rate of mental health problems and many of us have friends who have needed the support of the Samaritans and charities like them, so it was an obvious choice for us to support the excellent work they do.” The practice has raised excellent sums for charities in the past at this annual event, raising over £12,500 over the past 4 years. Last year £4500 was raised and split between for Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Street Vet.
