Merseyrail have confirmed that a person has been struck by a train at Freshfield

UPDATE at 22:44hrs: Services on the Southport and Hunts Cross line are expected to be able to resume within the next 30 minutes. 

ORIGINAL: 

Due to a person being struck by a train at Freshfield, services remain suspended between Southport and Hall Road. 

Rail replacement buses are expected on site very soon. A Merseyrail spokesman said at 21:05hrs tonight, Thursday 28th March: “Due to reports of a person being struck by a train in the Freshfield area, Services on our Southport and Hunts Cross line are currently suspended between Southport and Hall Road.” “Rail replacement buses are expected on site within the next 10 minutes.” More information will be announced once available. There is no word on the person's injuries at this stage.
