Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report 1st October

Formby Junior Sports Club has reached the four hundred membership target yet again and numbers are still rising.

This is great news, as FJSC will celebrate its 60th birthday on January 7thin a few months time. Numbers have never dropped below at least four hundred members each season for over fifty years which is a wonderful achievement especially bearing in mind the number of activities and clubs now available to children at weekends. FJSC is as popular as ever.

Children are still joining FJSC each week and since its start in 1959 it has always been available to children of all abilities. Everyone plays, no one is left out and there have never been any waiting lists.

NEWS ABOUT FJSC’S 60TH YEAR

Exciting news about how Formby Junior Sports Club is going to celebrate its sixtieth year will be released very soon. 2019 is going to be a very special year and the aim will certainly be to make it a very memorable twelve months for all its members.

INTER CLUB FOOTBALL

Two hundred and fifty children played Inter Club football last Saturday.

The good news was that in every age group there was an increase in numbers, an increase in the numbers of Inter Club matches and an increase in the numbers of boys and girls taking advantage of the free coaching on offer.

It was simply a very successful morning in all age groups with new members immediately being able to join in with the activities.

The memorable highlights of the morning for me was to see a new five year old Reception member chatting at half time with his dad (a club member in the 1990’s) and also receiving encouragement from his grandfather (a member of FJSC in the 1960’s).

INTER CLUB PARENTS

Very few parents are helping to put up goals before kick off times or at the end of the morning matches. In order for the children to have the maximum playing time more help is needed at 8.50am. please.

Also more help is needed at the end of the girls’ matches at 12 noon when fourteen sets of goals need to be taken down.

Two matches would have been played in the Year 4 Boys group last Saturday but only two sets of goals instead of four were assembled by parents and one large sized match had to be played instead.

INTER CLUB REFEREES

More volunteers to take a turn to referee are needed in every age group. If you can help please let the organisers know to save time.
