Formby Quizzers have all the answers for Marie Curie
The Marie Curie Formby Fundraising Group organised a ‘Fun Quiz Night’ at Formby Cricket Club on Tuesday 3rd July raising £1,978.50 to help provide care and support for people living with a terminal illness.
Quizmaster John Nelson kept everyone on their toes, and had people dancing through the marquee in pursuit of bonus points as a fun night was had by all.
Fundraising group member Ann Metford said: “It was such a fun event, and we were so pleased with the amount raised on the night. Everyone who came along were very generous, and it was lovely to see so many people taking part and having a good time, despite a clash with the England match! “We’d like to say a special thank you to John & Julia Nelson for making the event so much fun and to Formby Cricket Club for kindly allowing us free use of the marquee, which provided the perfect setting on a warm summer’s evening. “A big thank you to Andy Grice and all the staff at the club who worked so hard throughout a long & hot day to make the event such a success. Also to all the shops, restaurants, and businesses in the village who kindly donated raffle prizes, and to Formby Golf Club for some smashing auction prizes. Without all their support we simply wouldn’t have been able to raise this fantastic amount for Marie Curie.”
Marie Curie fundraiser Antony Jones said: “The ladies in our Formby Fundraising Group did us proud. They made every effort to ensure that the quiz was such a success. £1978.50 is a great amount, and will help us to continue providing care and support for patients and their families.”
