Sky drama Curfew starring Sean Bean were filming on Formby beach last week

Classic cars were spotted on the sands for the drama starring Sean Bean. The set were filming on the 17th, 18th and 19th May and then came back again on 23rd May to finish more scenes.


Formby beach and woods is becoming an iconic place to film, just a few weeks ago, in April, a major 3-part adaptation of The War of the Worlds was shooting in Formby woods and on Formby beach and is set to appear on BBC One this Christmas. The three-part series will tell the story of how Martians launched a devastating attack on 19th century London, until one man leads a heroic fight back. Read the story HERE.


Peaky Blinders was also filmed last year with Hollywood star Tom Hardy on Formby beach with Cillian Murphy on March 24, 2017. Read the story and watch the video of Tom Hardy in Formby HERE.


On 5th September 2016, film crews landed in Formby at Lifeboat Road to film an Agatha Christie drama which was a BBC production staring Liverpool-born Kim Cattrall and Toby Jones. Read the story and see the photos here.

European pay-TV giant Sky has ordered “Curfew,” a full-throttle U.K. original set in the world of street racing. The car racers will compete in customised and weaponized vehicles as they race across the Britain in an attempt to escape the control of a totalitarian government.


Endemol Shine’s Tiger Aspect is producing alongside fledgling British drama banner Moonage. The eight-parter will launch on Sky and the satcaster’s NOW TV streaming service.


The challengers in the illegal races are each drawn to the dangerous world of racing for their own desperate reasons, the producers said.


Sean Bean (“Game of Thrones”) will star alongside Adrian Lester (“Riviera”), Phoebe Fox (“Blue Iguana”), and Malachi Kirby (“Roots”).


Matthew Read (“Hammer of the Gods”) created the show. The cast also includes Robert Glenister (“Spooks”), Aimee-Ffion Edwards (“Peaky Blinders”), Rose Williams (“Reign”), Elijah Rowen (“Vikings”), and Guz Khan (“Borderline”).


Speaking of the new venture, Sky's drama chief Anne Mensah said: “Funny, emotionally truthful, visceral and above all fast, ‘Curfew’ is the perfect Sky One show. Matthew Read has created fantastically memorable, sometimes shocking, always fascinating characters.”


The eight part series will air on Sky and NOW TV.
