MP admires "impressive upgrade" of Formby pub

Formby's Pinewoods pub welcomed a special guest as the local MP popped in to check out a £250,000 upgrade.

Sefton Central MP Bill Esterson met general manager Dave McCartan to admire the thoughtful refurbishment of the Wicks Green pub.

Eight new jobs have been created at the pub and restaurant taking the total number of staff to 23.

Mr Esterson said: "It was a pleasure to go along to the Pinewoods to see this impressive upgrade. Dave is taking a real community approach with plans for a Christmas market to raise funds to help nearby Woodlands Primary School for example.

"He's also supporting Formby brewery Redstar Ales by selling their beers in the pub.

"I wish Dave and all staff good luck and look forward to popping in for a pint soon."
