Formby High School celebrate excellent 'A' Level Results
Nerves and anticipation turned to excitement and relief for students and staff at Formby High School as, once again, excellent results have been achieved at A Level and in BTEC courses. Well over half of all A Level results were graded A*-B and 85% of BTEC entries were awarded distinction or above.
The school is particularly delighted with how well students have performed in the recently reformed A Level subjects which are designed to create additional challenge. 78% of students who completed the Extended Project Qualification, which requires them to undertake an independent research project, gained A*-B grades. It is no surprise, then, that the overwhelming majority of students have successfully gained places on their preferred courses at university and for those who have chosen not to pursue the higher education route, they leave well equipped to follow their chosen pathway.
Headteacher, Dominic Mackenzie, said “The commitment, dedication and enthusiasm of the students have paid dividends with these excellent results. They don’t happen by chance and are a culmination of two year’s hard work and determination. Congratulations to all of our Year 13 students on their well-deserved results and for the contribution they have made to school life during their time at Formby High School. Best wishes for the future!”
Mrs Fiona Grieveson, Chair of Governors, said: “Witnessing the smiling faces of Formby High School students, parents and staff on results day is one of my favourite times as Chair of Governors. On behalf of a very pleased Governing Body, congratulations to all students on your outstanding achievements and good luck in your future careers and university courses. I would also like to offer the Governors’ thanks to all the staff for their hard work in preparing the students so thoroughly for their examinations and to the parents for their partnership and support throughout their child’s education at FHS.”
