Help prevent a Stroke - Have your blood pressure checked in Formby this Saturday
People who live in Formby are being encouraged to help prevent the onset of a stroke and have their blood pressure checked.
Have your Blood Pressure Checked in Formby Village on Saturday, 22nd April. The Rotary Club of Formby will host the annual Blood Pressure Checking Session in Formby Village at the Chapel Lane Surgery from 9.15am to 1.00pm. Two qualified nurses will be taking the Blood Pressures. The Rotary Organisation and the Stroke Association are working in partnership to help combat high blood pressure, the single biggest risk factor for a stroke. The national campaign has proven to be extremely successful over the past years, with record numbers of people through the UK having their blood pressure checked. The President of the Rotary Club of Formby, Peter Connor, says: ‘We hope local residents will stop by our stand on the day and have their blood pressure checked. It will only take a few minutes but it could help to save their lives. Several Formby men and women in past years have been very grateful that they stopped for those few minutes to have the check.’ Thanks to the Chapel Lane Surgery and Rowlands Pharmacy for their support during the event. In addition the Rotary members present will be collecting unwanted spectacles and cases to present to ‘Eye Aid for Africa’. Each year the spectacles are taken to Ghana for children and adults who have real sight problems but cannot afford the operations and glasses required to restore their sight. Your contribution to this very worthy cause will be gratefully accepted.
