Man arrested after altercation on Merseyrail train

A man has been arrested following altercation on Merseyrail train last Friday.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following a disturbance on a Merseyrail train.

The train came to a standstill at Formby station this afternoon which resulted in a disruption to Northern Line services.

A spokesperson for Merseyrail confirmed that two people were escorted from the train by police officers.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “We were called to Formby train station at 2.36pm following an altercation involving a man and a woman." “A male has been arrested on suspicion of assault.”
