FRANK'S REPORT 28th Nov, 2016

FRANK'S REPORT 28th Nov, 2016

All Formby Junior Sports Club matches including the Inter Club Section and Craven Minor League fixtures were postponed on Saturday due to heavy frost. However, a big improvement in weather conditions made it possible for a full programme of games to be played on Sunday.

MATCH OF THE WEEKEND

The Sunday Hightown Girls’ League match between FJSC Under 12’s United and FJSC Under 12’s Rangers proved as expected to be a great match.

Mia Shalliker gave United an early lead. Rangers had chances but due to some excellent United defending were denied an equaliser. United’s attacking duo of Hannah Allmark and Freya Thornton came more and more into the match and it was not long before both girls scored a goal each to give United a 3 nil lead by half time.

Rangers then produced a determined fight back after the interval and after a crisp passing move Chloe Siliprandi scored for Rangers. It was suddenly a very even match as both teams attacked with every opportunity.

One of the highlights of the match was the wonderfully competitive midfield battle between United’s Lauren Holden and Ranger’s Alex Murphy-Worrell.

Rangers swarmed forward but United’s defensive pairing of Amy Green and Mia Shalliker tackled and covered well. Rangers gradually did create more shooting opportunities but United’s goalkeeper Evie Stanbrook made some fine saves to deny Rangers a second goal.

In a now end-to-end match United also had their chances to extend their lead but Rangers’ Mollie Murphy and Rosie Degeir defended brilliantly. With two minutes remaining Erin Denison scored for Rangers with a powerful strike after the ball had rebounded off the United woodwork. Now 2-3 down Rangers frantically went in search of a very late equaliser but United held out to win an excellent match.

All the girls, who are all Inter Club friends on Saturdays and school friends as well, shook hands with each other after this very exciting match. It was a great advert for FJSC Girls’ football.

BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 14 Blacks moved back to joint top of the Championship Division after a hard fought 3 nil victory over Redgate Green. Lewis Constable scored twice and Callum Richmond was also on target. Man of the match was Thomas Marsh.

The two FJSC Under 12 teams played each other. The Blacks after a disappointing performance the week before were focused from the first whistle, played well throughout and won 8 nil. Midfield player James Wilson scored a hat trick. Sam Cousens scored a brace and there was also one goal each for Andrew Kimmance, Dan King and Sam Trappe. Kyle Phillips played very well in midfield. Full back Callum Davidson was man of the match. Luke Phillips played in goal and did well. The Whites tried hard but never recovered from the Blacks devastating start to the match.

FJSC Under 11 Whites and Crosby Stuart produced another very even match between the two teams. Ellis Parry and Steven Mordaunt scored. Sam Colbourne made two goal line clearances. The very consistent Jack Rummens was man of the match.

Lewis Parker scored early on for FJSC Under 9’s in the match with Phoenix Arrows. Jamie Simpson capped a very good performance with two goals. Captain Josh Kenn was man of the match.

FJSC Under 8 Rangers played well against Town Green. Finn Bauer led the way with a hat trick and there were also goals scored by Gabriel Duckworth, Joe Cooper and Lucas Rawlins. FJSC Under 8 Whites were in action against Phoenix. Man of the match for his defensive play Alfie Griffiths also scored his first goal of the season. The other goalscorers were Finlay Hunter, Luke Lewis, Ivan Weights, Joe Hughes and Dilan Sathiyanathan.

Just like the Whites, FJSC Under 8 Blacks also kept a clean sheet against Churchtown Athletic due to good goalkeeping by Dan Mortimer and Harry Lofthouse. Man of the match Finley Richards plus Fraser Holloway and Dan Mortimer were all on target with goals. It was another good all round team display.

FJSC Under 7 Whites started strongly against Town Green. Man of the match goalkeeper Thomas Wilson made a string of very good saves. The Whites scorers were Daniel Allmark, Jamie Jawook, Dominic Maxwell and Dylan Madeley. Max McBride scored a hat trick for FJSC Under 7 Blacks in the match with Southport Trinity. Lewis Forsyth was also a scorer. Anton Coyne was man of the match.

GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 17’s made the long journey to Fleetwood and had a convincing 8-1 victory. Molly Barton scored twice and there was one goal each from Rhianna Meehan, Alivia Hutchinson, Rebecca Casey, Macy Keam, Tamzin Elliot and girl of the match Lauren Williamson.

FJSC Under 14 Girls’ played Blackburn and Darwen at home on Sunday. This made up for the disappointment of travelling to Blackburn the day before only to find that the match had been cancelled due to heavy frost.

The stars of the match were the two goalkeepers. FJSC’s Rachel Robinson and her opposite number from Blackburn made a series of very good saves to deny any goals being scored. It was a very even match. An Erin Smith shot skimmed the Blackburn crossbar and a near miss from Lily Hamilton nearly turned the goalless draw into a FJSC victory. Sammy Godsall marshalled the defence with confidence.

FJSC Under 13 Jets held Maghull to a 1-1 half time scoreline with Anna Johnson finishing smartly following a good run and cross. Two quick goals at the beginning of the second half and a further two goals late on, when the Jets were chasing the game, settled the outcome in favour of Maghull. FJSC’s Karen Lane and Simone Jones went close to scoring with good efforts.

The match between FJSC Albion and Crosby Stuart was closely contested from start to finish in the Under 12 Division. Aalijah Turner scored the only goal of the match for Albion. Player of the match was Harvee Hindley.

There was another very good match played between FJSC Under 10 Hotspurs and Litherland Remyca. Captain for the day was Lottie Atherton. Arianna Casson scored for Hotspurs and a Sarah Allmark shot hit the Remyca crossbar.

FJSC Under 8 Rockets played a very strong Bellefield Academy team. The Rockets played with great determination and were rewarded with goals scored by Megan Hulse.
