Formby Framing is 30 years old in our Bubble
Formby Framing is 30 years old in our Bubble. Started in 1986 by Kevin Grimes, the shop first opened it’s doors above Derbyshires in Formby Village and sold Art to corporate companies.
It didn’t take long for them to get their own front door with an in-house workshop to offer bespoke picture framing to the public which has grew from strength to strength ever since. Owner Kevin said: “We have seen many companies come and go in the village but we are still going strong."
"We took over the derelict building 1n 1996 at the back of 26 Chapel Lane which used to be City Florist. It also used to be a Bakery run by a certain Tilly Woodfin. You can still see the original oven mounted into the rear of the building. In 2000, we began a small cafe and Café D’Art was born."
Now established for over 16 years the Cafe' D' Art is a profoundly recognised name in the heart of Formby offering tea and coffee and a selection of homemade cakes and light meals available throughout the day and by night is the place to be for a glass of wine or beer and entertainment till very late.
Kevin went on to say: "Together with Alex and Carl, our ingenuity and business experience has taken Formby Framing to another level in bespoke framing which now includes large format printing for large canvas prints, birthday banners and much more."
We asked Kevin, "What is your secret to success in Formby?" He said: “Be proud of our village and what we have got, use your independent shops and value them. Keep going, keep smiling and keep offering the best service for miles around.”
Formby Framing can be found on Chapel Lane in Formby Village, down the side of Iceland.
