Pinewood Park Estate Borders a 60mph Bypass So Why Is There No Protective Fence Provided by the Developer or the Council?

Formby Bubble has been contacted by a deeply concerned resident about what can only be described as an extremely dangerous situation at the new Pinewood Park estate.
Around most of the estate, safety has clearly been considered. The surrounding ditches are enclosed with wooden fencing to stop children accessing the water.
However, along the side that runs directly alongside the northbound carriageway of the Formby Bypass, there is absolutely no protective fencing at all.
There is open access through the trees straight onto a live 60mph bypass.
There is also a pedestrian walkway that leads directly to the edge of this fast moving road. The only thing in place is two pieces of metal which do not form a gate and do not physically prevent anyone from walking straight through and onto the carriageway.
Beyond that point are vehicles travelling at speed.
With a large number of young families now living on this estate, this is not a minor oversight. It is a serious accident waiting to happen.
The resident who contacted us said:
“I am asking for help with how to contact the relevant people at the council and people’s thoughts on the exit from the new Pinewood Park estate straight onto the Formby Bypass. I know many people who are worried with the population of the estate being younger families that it may be a disaster waiting to happen as there is no shielding from cars. Thanks so much in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated.”
After attending the location ourselves, we agree this presents a clear and immediate risk. A child could easily pass through the trees or the walkway and step directly into the path of fast moving traffic.
This must be addressed before someone is seriously injured or worse.
We are urgently calling on:
Formby Parish Council
Sefton Council
Barratt Homes
to take immediate action to install secure fencing along the full tree line of Wyoming Way and to fit a proper locked gate at the pedestrian access point to prevent direct access to the bypass.
This is about protecting children. It should not take a tragedy for this to be fixed.
Residents are invited to share their views respectfully.
The three photos here show the fencing along the ditches which is great so why weren’t they continued right along the border of the bypass?

Choosing the right tech stack is the most critical decision for any mobile startup. While native apps offer peak performance, most businesses today opt for cross-platform solutions to save time and resources. Using versatile frameworks such as the ones described in this guide allows you to reach both iOS and Android users with a single codebase. It’s a very detailed comparison for anyone trying to weigh the pros and cons of Flutter, React Native, and other modern tools.
My Instagram feed was becoming more about sponsored posts than actual photos from my friends, so I looked for a solution. I came across this guide on how to stop ads on instagram and it’s incredibly helpful. It covers practical steps and tools to clean up the app and make the scrolling experience much more enjoyable. If you’re tired of constant interruptions in your stories and feed, you should definitely give it a read.
