Waitrose Bag Packing raised over £400
Formby Squirrels Rotary Club would like to thank the kind generosity of Formby residents during their charity bag pack held with the kind agreement of Waitrose on Saturday 1st October.
They raised £442.45 for Sefton Carers which is one of their charities they are supporting this year. Dave Bosworth their president said that the club members were constantly pleased by the good natured response of Waitress staff to our presence and Formby people who were complimentary about the club members abilities in packing their bags.
The Formby Squirrels are a new Rotary Club that meet at the Grapes Public House on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. Occasionally they hold their second monthly meeting elsewhere for instance if they are away on a ten pin bowling night.
They are raising funds this year for the three charities they are supporting, specifically for Sefton Carers, Liverpool Teenage Cancer Trust and the Southport Life Boat. In addition they have undertaken one off collections for MacMillan nurses, Easter egg collections for the Formby Food Bank etc.
The next main event for the Formby Squirrels is their annual Ceilidh (nee Barn Dance) at Holy Trinity Church Hall on Saturday 4 February 2017 which involves dancing to a live band with a hot supper and desert included in the ticket price.
Their previous two events were well supported and everyone had a great time. Tickets for this event will be going on sale soon.
