Children's event to raise funds for neonatal unit a great success

On Sunday 2nd October at Baby, Toddler and Children's Event was held at The Activity Centre Formby to support and raise funds for medical equipment for Ormskirk Hospital Neonatal Unit.

Theo (pictured below) was born 10 weeks premature back in October 2012 and spent the next 10 weeks on the fantastic Neonatal Unit fighting for his life, including having his 1st Christmas there.

Emma and her family wanted to give back to the unit in order to help other babies and their families in a similar situation.

This year they are raising funds towards incubators costing approximately £20,000 each and monitors costing approximately £7,000 each, the unit needing 12 of each.

The Children's Event was attended extremely well even at a queue at the gate of keen shoppers wanting to be the first to grab their bargains.

They had stalls selling new and pre loved Children's items, and Mini Golf company set up in the glorious sunshine on the field at the side, Starkidz Entertainment came with Peppa Pig and Chase from Paw Patrol to see all the lovely children they even had a go at mini golf too, there was hook a duck, a tombola, name the teddy, a raffle with great prizes on offer, Facepainting by the fantastic Fancy Faces Southport, Trivisco Ice Cream Van came along and there was also refreshments on offer.

They would like to thank all the sellers for bringing their lovely items, to all the local businesses for donating either raffle prizes or refreshments, to the wonderful team of helpers who without them they couldn't run these events, and to the buyers because without you they wouldn't be able to raise funds.

They raised a brilliant amount of £567.82 for the Neonatal Unit so thank you so much.

The next event is a Family Christmas Shopping Evening on Friday 25th November at St Jerome's Parish Club, Greenloons Drive, Formby L37 2LX.

This event is on 5.30pm till 9.30pm. Advanced tickets went on sale on 2nd October at a cheaper cost of £1 per Adult and Children are free.

You can also pay on the door which will be £2 per Adult and 50p per child.
