Report Of Dog Left In Car - Lord Street, Southport
Merseyside Police can confirm that an investigation is underway after a dog was found in a car in Southport yesterday evening, Tuesday 19 July. At around 7.55pm, a report was received that a greyhound in a parked car at the rear of the Bold Hotel on Lord Street was reportedly suffering from heat exhaustion. The dog has been taken to a vets for treatment and is continuing to recover. The owners are to voluntarily attend for police questioning on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. Inspector Graham Fisher of Southport: “I would like to remind all pet owners to take extra care of animals in hot weather. Do not even leave a pet in a vehicle for a minute, in case you are called away unexpectedly. It doesn’t take long for the heat to take effect and the consequences can be catastrophic.” CCTV enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
