FJSC Jets played in the U13 section of the Runcorn Linnets girls' end-of-season tournament on Saturday 04 June. A 5-a-side tournament with the Jets taking a squad of 7 - Dot Russell-Gojes, Sophie Hall (c), Annabel Gowling, Karen Lane, Jess Wang, Simone Jones and Liberty Murphy.
On a very well-organised and well-attended day, the Jets were one of 14 teams, split into two leagues of 7, in their age group with teams travelling from Ireland, Scotland and Newcastle to take part. Also, the venue was excellent with good pitches, strong referees and fantastic weather.
The girls had a great time and the competitive and team spirit shone through all of their performances - a real show of togetherness and technical ability that they have developed through FJSC Interclub across the season. A real credit to the club.
The team came up against some very strong teams and although didn't make it to the semi-finals - going out in the group stage - they did win and draw 2 out of their first three matches with Simone Jones getting on the score-sheet. The Jets had to play 3 back-to-back matches at the end of the group stage which was a tough assignment against some very strong Academy teams but kept battling right to the end.
The team will surely be stronger for the experience and a tournament most definitely worth going back to next year.
