Formby Junior Sports Club results and Frank's Report


FRANK'S REPORT 14 Mar, 2016

It was Formby Junior Sports Club’s busiest weekend of the season so far with thirty-four matches played. Nineteen of the club’s Representative teams were in action. This included a great effort by FJSC Under 7’s Blacks in the Craven Minor League Tournament and in addition FJSC Under 12’s and Under 13’s United won their quarter- final matches. In midweek all six FJSC girls’ teams in the Hightown League also gained victories in their cup semi-final matches. At Deansgate Lane two hundred children took part in fifteen Inter Club matches. This included thrilling League Cup ties in four divisions and the largest attendance of the season in the section for the Year One and Two Girls. REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES FJSC Under 7’s Black were runners-up in the Craven Minor League Tournament held at Edge Hill University. Fourteen teams entered the competition. After qualifying for the final stages the Blacks only lost one match and that was to the eventual winners. Finlay Richards, Liam Kirk, Harry Lofthouse and Thomas Dent all scored goals. Goalkeeper Micky Denison made some very good saves and defenders Dan Mortimer and Fraser Holloway were also in fine form. Koray Murray-Cakar and Aaron Rymill both made important contributions in a wonderful squad effort. Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 12 Blacks have progressed to the semi–final stage of the Joseph Jackson Cup. Two goals from Jamie Murphy and one from Owain Griffiths-Johnson gave the Blacks an excellent 3 nil victory over Phoenix. Dylan Sudlow produced a commanding display in the FJSC defence. FJSC Under 13 United also won their Catherine Oldfield quarter- final cup tie against FJSC Blacks. Ben Adams, Gerard Casterton, Cameron Sergison, Dean Shepherd, Jenson Finn and man of the match Ben Rich were all scorers in the 7 nil win. The Under 16 league leaders FJSC won 6 nil against Southport FC. Last week the Hightown Girls’ League semi- finals were played under floodlights at Waterloo RUFC. FJSC’s six teams- the Jets, United, Rangers, Albion, Real and Hotspurs all won their matches to reach their respective cup finals. The scorers were Lydia Warburton and Maisy Hughes (Jets); Freya Thornton (United); Karen Lane, Erin Denison and Lily Hall ( Rangers); Yasmin Godsall and Harvee Hindley (Albion); Jess Lynch, Maisie Cox and Bo Price (Real); Paige Leather, Neve Thornton and Grace Rooney (Hotspurs). All the team members played well and are looking forward to Cup Final night at Waterloo on Wednesday 23rd March at 6.30pm. In the West Lancs Girls’ League FJSC Under 16’s gained a 3-2 win over Blackpool. Centre forward Caitlin MacBeth scored two well-taken goals and Molly Barton was also a scorer in a very exciting encounter. Sally Laughton, Catalina Tapia and Lauren Williamson worked tirelessly throughout the match. Player of the match was Rhianna Meehan. The Under 13’s lost 3 nil away at Wigan Athletic. Molly Graham, Olivia Mulvey and Rebecca Cain all played well. Back in league action in the Hightown League the Jets drew 1-1 with Remyca Youth. Simone Jones equalised after Remyca had taken an early lead. Alex Murphy-Worrell and Lily Hall scored one goal each in FJSC Rangers 2-1 win over Churchtown Lightning. In another close match Freya Thornton gave FJSC United the lead against S and B Rangers Red after good approach play from Hannah Allmark. Rangers equalised with two minutes remaining. Girl of the game was Yasmin Jones. Goals from Yasmin Godsall and Harvee Hindley against Dynamo Rangers kept Albion’s one hundred per cent record in tact. Real and Crosby Stuart shared the goals equally in a high scoring match. Rosie Johnson scored in the first minute. Jess Lynch and Ava Lewis were also scorers. Goalkeeper Emily Ball made some spectacular saves. Sarah Allmark, Paige Leather, Grace Rooney and Neve Thornton scored for Hotspurs in another good team display against Town Green. In the Craven Minor League, Lucas Foster scored for FJSC Under 11 Whites in the match against Town Green Falcons. Goals from Ewan Davies and Luke Phillips helped FJSC Under 11 Blacks to a good result against Maghull Youth. Goalkeeper Jack Flint was man of the match. FJSC Under 10 Blacks played well away at Phoenix and goals were scored by Tom Rimmer, Harry Knowles and Jacob Lewis. Man of the match was Ben Hough. Martin Melyov and Dan Green scored for FJSC Under 9’s also against Phoenix. Dominic Hamilton was man of the match. Gabe Bellemey and Jake Stanton scored for FJSC Under 8’s in a close match with Southport Trinity Blue. FJSC Under 7 Whites also played in the final stages of the Craven Minor League Tournament. The Whites missed out on a top two position but played very well and the boys were all delighted to be presented with a medal each. INTER CLUB FOOTBALL It was a hive of activity at Deansgate Lane last Saturday. The various coaching sessions were followed by exciting end- to- end friendly matches in the Reception and the Year One boys groups. The highlight of the morning however was to see twenty -four girls attend the Year One and Two age group. This was the highest number in this section so far and augurs well for the future. All the various coaching sessions were all well attended. The children are having a lot of fun whilst improving their skills from receiving this expert coaching. One hundred and three goals were scored in the Inter Club matches. In the Boys’ Inter Club League Cup there were wins for Leopards, Albion, Hotspurs, Freshfield Colts, Sandune Rovers and Pinewood Athletic. Panthers and Pumas shared the points in another thrilling match. Springboks and Seahawks gained victories in the Girls’ Inter Club League Cup and there was also an exciting drawn match between Pelicans and Wallabies. It will be the next round of cup matches on Saturday. INTER CLUB’S FIFTY-NINE SCORERS Reception Sebastian Wood and Sam Gill. Year One Boys Daniel Allmark and Jamie Jawook. Years Six and Seven Girls Hannah Allmark, Erin Denison, Lily Hall, Karen Lane and Lydia Warburton. CLUB NEWS Congratulations to Sophie Dixon, Ellie Brewer, Anna Rutherford and Lily Hamilton for being selected for the Merseyside Schools Under 14 Squad. The four girls played in a county competition in Doncaster at the weekend. Sophie Dixon scored the winning goal in the 1 nil win over Cumbria.
