FRANK'S REPORT 11/01/2016 - Jan, 2016
It was another weekend without football at Formby Junior Sports Club. Heavy rain throughout the week made all the pitches unplayable once again.

However, an early decision made last Thursday to cancel Saturday’s Inter Club football at Deansgate Lane made it possible to arrange an alternative for some age groups. On Friday, Sefton for the first time this season cancelled all football on their pitches across the borough for the weekend.
The younger Inter Club groups played on the 3G pitches at Formby Play Sport. Unfortunately heavy rain at the 9 am kick off time for the Reception and Year One boys meant “a last minute” disappointing postponement. Luckily the rain stopped and play was possible at 10am and 11am for the Year Two, Three and Four boys and the Year One to Year Five girls. Exactly one hundred children attended and thoroughly enjoyed the sessions provided.
For many of these young members it was their first time playing on an artificial surface. The children quickly adapted and many goals were scored throughout the morning. I have never seen so many brightly coloured new football boots. Many of these pairs of boots were having their first real outing since they were opened as Christmas presents. Another feature was the large number of FJSC accessories that were also on show – training tops, track suits, waterproofs, boot bags etc. It was great to see as so many of our members being so proud to be wearing a garment with the FJSC logo.
Now back to the football.
Amongst the goals in the Year Three/Four Boys group were – Jake Stanton, Daniel Green, Oliver Mercer, Caleb Johnson, Nathan Cousens, Ioannis Kardoulias, Sam Mycek, Josh Kenn, Lewis Parker, Dominic Baines, Jacob Heaney, Dominic Hamilton, Jack Yarwood, Jake Bellemey and Gabe Bellemey.
The goal scorers in the Year Four/ Five Girls Section were Jessica Lynch, Erica Foster, Jasmin Stevens, Zoe Sixsmith, Yasmin Godsall, Paige Leather, Bo Price, Ava Lewis, Heidi Addis, Neve Thornton, Lilly Lovelady-Lang, Holly Rimmer, Chloe Price and Grace Rooney.
The Year One/Two Girls enjoyed their 5 aside match and the Year Two Boys played a friendly round robin tournament.
FJSC would like to thank Formby Play Sport owner Mr. Hugh McAuley for making it possible for Inter Club to play on the 3G pitches. It was much appreciated by the club, children and parents.
It is hoped that the weather will improve so that we can have a full programme of both Inter Club matches and Representative team fixtures played this coming weekend.
INTER CLUB
All groups will meet at the usual times for coaching sessions and Inter Club matches on Saturday 16th. January.
NEW MEMBERS in all Inter Club age groups are most welcome.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
Members of squads are asked to contact managers for match arrangements.
Due to a number of matches that have already been cancelled over the last few weeks it is very likely that there will be a number of rearranged matches scheduled over the next few months. Parents/children are reminded that a possible free week in the future may now become a match day.
NEW MEMBER
FJSC welcomes Evie Balshaw our first new member in 2016.
CLUB NEWS
With the loss of a number of football weekends due to the weather we are hoping that Sefton will grant an extension at the end of the season for both the Representative teams and the Inter Club section.
