Formby has been battered again this Boxing Day with rain causing floods over across our Bubble. Concerned residents suffering with toilets back filling and floods on their properties is worrying.

A real health hazard has to be addressed when one resident says that human excrement was all over the road in Formby.
Formby resident, Lynn Roberts said: "In Savon Hook, there was human excrement flowing all over the road adjacent to Lunts Lane field where the Council propose to build houses."
Jackie Braithwaite said: "I live on Savon Hook and the field opposite where they want to build houses is at the moment, a lake. God help us if they do build because they will be a meter higher than the current level which means our bungalows will get flooded. Every year this is getting worse!"
Formby resident Marie Kassell said: "Our toilet isn't flushing, just backing up since this morning".
Judith Hulse said: "I am on Alt Rd, we cant flush our loo and our back garden is now a lake!"

More heavy rain is expected over the next seven days and Formby is on an amber alert by the Met Office.

Queens Road has been flooded for weeks every time it rains.

One garage in Formby is actually flooded with furniture and belongings ruined with water on Redgate. Siobhan Farnell said:
"This was my garage earlier today AFTER we'd try to clear some of the water from it".

Former Councillor Mr Barry Griffiths said:
"Formby’s labyrinth of streams, ditches and culverts are no longer able to take excess water out of the town. Many of the streams have become blocked over the years by new developments, while others have become clogged with garden waste and rubbish."
Mike Rigby from Formby said: "The Alt which starts in Liverpool flows through Maghull towards Formby, collcecting water as it goes. We also get water from Halshall, Aughton and the Moss via Downholland brook, all this flows towards Hightown and backs up at times ..to the point no more will fit under the bridge".

The flood alert in formby is mainly over the green belt land to the back of Brackenway where the Council are planning on building hundreds of new homes. The Formby area obviously cannot cope with current water drainage systems and it is very concerning about the future development plans in the area.

Thanks to Simon Maxwell for this photo of the fields at the end of Deansgate Lane North and Hawksworth Drive. This is where Sefton Council are planning on building 300 houses.
