Paul Range faces charges of wounding two men with intent and assaulting a third man.

A Formby man accused of a double stabbing appeared before a judge today (Friday, December 11). Paul Range, 56, faces charges of wounding two men with intent and assaulting a third man by punching him.

Range, of Wicks Crescent, was due to enter his plea to a total of four charges today but this was adjourned until next month after his barrister asked for more time to take instructions from his client.

Range is charged with wounding with intent 46-year-old Michael Arnold, who suffered wounds to his chest and back and Mark Brady, 48, who had puncture wounds to his back.

He is also charged with assaulting Paul Charles McCollah causing actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon, a kitchen knife in Harington Road, Formby. All the offences allegedly occurred on September 25 this year.

He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from Forest Bank prison. His barrister Simon Driver said he had had a 30 minute video conference with Range but said he needed to have a face to face meeting to clarify the defendant’s instructions.

Judge Alan Conrad, QC, allowed his application and Range was further remanded in custody until January 8. A provisional trial date has already been fixed for March 21.
