Seven passengers in a taxi collide with a council wagon on Formby bypass

RTA last night - Friday 4th December on the Formby bypass involving a Formby Taxi carrying seven passengers and a council wagon.

The black Mercedes Vito taxi with seven passengers was travelling down the Formby Bypass towards Formby at approximately 11:30pm on Friday night of 4th December. A council wagon pulled out of the council yard straight onto moving traffic and collided with the taxi carrying seven passengers. The taxi driver said: "He pulled out on me, I didn't have enough time to stop and I collided with his vehicle."
Police and paramedics attended the scene. A couple of passengers went into shock and one lady had some cuts to her hand but, no-one was seriously injured.
The driver of the council wagon said he thought he had enough time so, he pulled out. The taxi driver has video footage of the accident which is now being looked at by Police.

Formby residents have raised concerns about a ‘dangerously’ situated council depot.
At the Southport Area Committee meeting on Wednesday (September 23), a member of the public brought up the matter, stating that the depot’s location causes large heavy goods vehicles to queue on the bypass.
