Pavement partially collapses on busy Formby road

The hole on Green Lane first appeared last Friday (November 20).

A pavement has partially collapsed on a busy Formby road, sparking residents' concerns for safety.

The hole on Green Lane is directly outside Janet Holmes' cottage and first appeared last Friday (November 20).

Janet said: "The sink hole is now two to three feet from my property and goes across my drive.

"United Utilities came out and the council came out and put a barrier across it, but during the course of the week, nothing has been done to actually fix it and it really is quite large.

"But my drive is now sinking so I have lost my temper a little bit. The hole is growing by the day."

Janet has lived at her house, which faces the Grapes pub, for eight years and this is the first time something like this has happened.

The council and Highways Agency came out to examine the hole on Sunday (November 29) and there are now bigger barriers around it to stop pedestrians getting too close.

Janet said: "My daughter saw a couple of elderly ladies walking towards it and she had to run out and stop them.

"There is now a crack appearing on the tarmac on the road as well.

"It's a very busy road, and it is on a main bus route."
