Formby and District Remembrance Services 2015

Remembrance Services in Formby, Hightown and Altcar take place tomorrow - Sunday 8th and Wednesday 11th November.

The main Remembrance Service is at 15:00hrs on Sunday 8th November at Holy Trinity Church, Rosemary Lane. This will be attended by the Mayor of Sefton, Councillor Stephen Kermode , who will read the lesson. The service will include the laying of wreaths and a parade will take place beforehand from outside the old Royal British Legion HQ in Whitehouse Lane,

The parade will form up in Whitehouse Lane at 14:30hrs, and march off at 14:40hrs through the village to Holy Trinity Church in Rosemary Lane, after the service at approx 16-00hrs the parade will form up in Rosemary Lane and march back through the village to the War Memorial, where the salute will be taken by the Mayor of Sefton, the parade will then return to Holy Trinity Parish Hall via Sumner Road for refreshments.

Other services on Sunday the 8th November which will be attended by members of the Formby Branch Royal British Legion are:-

St.Michael`s Church Altcar at 09:30 hrs

Hightown: 10:55hrs at Hightown War Memorial followed by a service in St.Stephen`s Church Hightown.

Ince Blundell: 12:30 hrs at Ince Blundell War Memorial

On WEDNESDAY 11th November at 10:55hrs there will be a short Act of Remembrance and a two minutes silence at 11-00hrs, at the Formby War Memorial followed by the laying of crosses, Later at 11:30 hrs there will a short ceremony in Our Lady`s Formby, Graveyard, laying crosses on the Polish War Graves.

Our garden of Remembrance Crosses situated at the War Memorial, Formby Village will be open from the 1st November for the public to lay a cross in remembrance of relations and loved ones lost, Crosses can be obtained from Formby Hardware Store for a small donation to our Poppy Appeal, our Poppy stall in Waitrose and Tesco from Wednesday 4th to Saturday 7th will also have crosses available.

Formby Legion AGM

The Royal British Legion Formby Branch AGM is to be held on Sunday 22nd November at 2pm in the Bier House of St.Peter`s Church, Green Lane, Formby, all branch members are invited to attend this important meeting.
